[VOD] Talking OG's plateau and IEM Katowice groups with guest Aleksib

The in-game leader of OG joins the show live on Twitch at 20:00 to talk about recent results and criticism.

The European team that reached their peak world ranking of #6 at the turn of the year recorded underwhelming results at the first tournaments of 2021, most recently exiting IEM Katowice 2021 in 13-16th place.

To hear about what caused OG's slump and how the team plans to get out of it, HLTV Confirmed S5E28 will feature the Finnish caller Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen.

Aleksib will feature on HLTV Confirmed for the first time

Alongside Aleksib, the show will feature Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill and Milan "Striker" Švejda, who will break down the recent news and talk about other IEM Katowice results, such as the CIS-heavy playoff bracket and Liquid's revival.

It's not really that simple. Traveling, yes, but work Visas needed to maintain residence aren't typically as easy to get. Especially during a pandemic. It also depends on where you are from, since some countries are less likely to be turned down than others. Turkey has issues with visas, I imagine Jordan may as well. I asked about Turkey earlier but I forgot Xantares is from there, but Issa is from Jordan.

Looking forward to this. Really interesting to hear what his reasoning would be as to why OG haven't had much success cause in my views, there are too many of them. Been a year so far yet they still struggle on their own map pick, they save alot and don't risk retakes. No consistent star player, not a single boot camp either yet.
2021-02-22 17:33
This team is living inside their own bubble. Far from reality

mantuu did very well in 2020, but not at the level where he would be a good awper for a top3 team sadly. In all the big games of big events against tier 1 teams he was fairly underwhelming. He was still impressive, but not necessarily an awper that you would build a major contender team with. Aleksib and valde are such players and OG has no one else like that atm.
2021-02-22 19:59

Atm options are very limited. As a player woxic is better, but he seems to have some sort of attitude problems. Most really good awpers are already in better teams than OG, so no buyout potential.

It's not a slump. It's just their normal level. ISSA is not a star player, mantuuu is not doing enough with his awp and aleksib hasnt proved that he has enough to bring to the table as IGL. With the level of competition we'll see this year I can totally see them drop out of top20 at some point.

Fluking 2-3 tournaments can get you up there, but the fact that they stayed there for just few months, and than started losing and losing and losing which was the reason he got kicked in the first place, proves that you are wrong. Same here...few decent results gets you ranking, but they dont have ANY good results actually. Its just a matter of time before changes begin to happen before he himself eventually gets kicked.

"started losing and losing and losing which was the reason he got kicked in the first place" Lmao, funny. Look back at the timeline again, I think you remember it very wrong. Just to refresh your mind a bit they were top 3 when he got benched and had good results in past few tournaments. After he got benched was when the real downfall of Ence started and they went from top 3 to top 30 and then disband. Theres a good reason why everyone that knows anything about CS consider Aleksib a good IGL.

TLDR; Issaa cant travel to Portugal so he will keep playing from Jordan. They wont make a change at the moment. He compared the situations to 144hz (in home) and 240 hz (on lan). He said that if LANs come back ISSAA can show his full potential, BUT he said that there are problems with his ping. If covid stays for long i guess he will be benched. But atm nothing will change.
