The former Chaos rifler will make his debut for Extra Salt against Rise at 03:00 .

Extra Salt have benched Ian "⁠motm⁠" Hardy from their starting roster and are set to utilise Edgar "⁠MarKE⁠" Maldonado in his place, HLTV.org has confirmed.

The former Chaos member has been on the sidelines since the team disbanded at the start of the year, with two members switching to VALORANT, Erick "⁠Xeppaa⁠" Bach making his way to Cloud9, and Jonathan "⁠Jonji⁠" Carey creating a new roster with Bad News Bears.

MarKE will replace motm on Extra Salt

motm has averaged a 1.08 rating for Extra Salt, often being the team's hard entry into sites on the T side while seeking out information with aggressive pushes on the defense. The roster kicked off the year by qualifying for DreamHack Open January, where they were surprisingly eliminated in third place following a pair of losses to Rebirth.

MarKE put up similar numbers for Chaos, averaging a 1.07 rating in his three months with the team, albeit against stiffer competition including the likes of Evil Geniuses and Liquid. HLTV.org knows he has been practicing with the team for a few days, although he has yet to sign with the organisation.

The 22-year-old is set to make his debut against Rise at 03:00 in ESEA Premier Season 36, where Extra Salt currently lead Group A alongside Bad News Bears with a 3-0 record.

from the "eye test" I don't think he's ever going to really progress that far as a player. I think he has potential as a T2 NA player, but considering motm actually has LAN experience (and plays hard entry) i'd rather he was active.

Was motm really the problem? Don't know about his gameplay style within the team but he was putting good stats. And they trade an entry fragger for another one with similar stats. Apart from oSee, everybody else was really struggling there, thats a very questionable move.

motm was alright and taking him out could mess with the chemistry as well as possibly even be a downgrade. imo it wasn't worth the risk.

The risk was that motm was a solid or even above average entry fragger who had great team chemistry. marke in the past has shown himself to be a good entry fragger but could fuck with the chemistry, and there is a good chance that he won't even be as good as motm.
