Video: sh1ro's 12 1vX wins at IEM Katowice 2021 group stage

To highlight the Russian's impressive clutching ability, HLTV.org put together a video with all of the 1vX situations he managed to win during the group stage of the tournament.

Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov had a stellar showing in the opening four matches Gambit played at IEM Katowice, pushing his team to the playoffs of the $1 million tournament with a 1.34 rating - the second-highest at the event.

However, where the 19-year-old AWPer stood out even more is the 1vX situations, topping the charts with 12 clutches from nine maps played, including four 1v2s.

Gambit's sniper found immense impact in the late-round

Our moviemaker Radosław "MAKKU" Makuch put together a video containing all 12 of sh1ro's 1vX wins from the group stage of IEM Katowice 2021, highlighting his impressive late-round play against the likes of mousesports, Heroic, and G2.

Click play on the video below to relive the actions ahead of Gambit's playoff bout with Natus Vincere - scheduled for Friday, 15:00 .

It is clutching, not baiting... Clutching means you are the last alive but that doesn't always necessarily mean you have baited your teammates, of course.

Unfortunately, yes. I don't like to assume the contents of a post or assume the post to automatically be that of bait merely just because of a namesake; however, in this case you seem to be correct...

the fact that he had to finish players who are low hp has a huge impact in those clutches. A guy can have 15 kills and 70 adr while a guy with 8 kills can have 120. Edit: Here is an example hltv.org/matches/2346586/spirit-vs-gambi.. Hobbit had more impact than sh1ro and interz in the game despite finishing with negative K/D

2021-02-25 01:21
I mean anyone who wins a 1v4 or 1v5 has to just get lucky, by the very definition you need catastrophic mistakes from the enemy team, such as in GuardiaNs case Fnatic giving him 5 individual 1v1s. It's always more impressive to see 1v4s and 1v5s even though they are 100% reliant on mistakes, such as rains 1v5 against nV at Cluj-Napoca, I think it was an even worse case of a team catastrophically failing, as nV gave 1v1s all over the place where there was 0 opportunities to trade, despite being in fantastic positions to set up crossfires and trade.

"well, I mean, regarding to ur , if he baits like 95 times out of 100 times to get to that clutch situation" I explained in the post the difference between bait and being the last alive, they are not always indicative to one another, that is a misconception. "I'd still say that he obviously bait haha." Then I ultimately respect the opinion of you and the user in post #6; post #10 was more pointing out the needless objectivity when expressing an opinion. Use of the word "obvious" gives weight to the fact said clutches are apparently mandatory due to baiting, when therein lies the misconception. "BTW ARE U THE REAL JONTY? OR FAKE? DAMN" Real Jonty? Fake Jonty? If there is an imposter account out there, I need to know about it, otherwise yes, I am the "real Jonty", friend...

he is impressiv don´t get me wrong, but this isn´t the type of "highlight" you expect from one of the best players... and he is 7th placed individual player against Top 50 teams and 4th placed against Top 30... if he can keep that level up in high tier tournaments he will be in the top 20 though
2021-02-24 16:56
3 replies
IMO the highlight is just that he is always atleast good for 2 [kills] and doesnt choke when he has to close out a round. Most if not all of the rounds he had those clutches were multi-kill rounds, so he had an impact even before he had to clutch and then he managed to close out almost all clutch situations.
2021-02-24 17:34
2 replies
Like I said he is a insane player but you can literally rotate any other player in his position to close out that type of a "clutch"... He got most of his scenes against mousesports who just got a new igl and therefore played a little bit of a pug style/ uncoordinated as dexter mentioned during a interview... Therefore those scences arent as impressive because the pressure was on the player he had to play against most of the time and he got the better info in comparison
2021-02-24 18:51

I agree with that, even Hobbit said mouz is the team they are the most comfortable to play against due to the changes. Its just that the conversion rate on the clutches is impressive to me atleast.

It's kind of annoying seeing these listed as 1vX situations when in at least half of these clips he gets the frag because his teammate is a distraction and dies slightly before he gets the kill. On some technical level, yes, they are 1vX's, but when you're 2v1 and trade your teammate does it really count as a 1vX?
2021-02-24 18:18

exactly what i thought.. This video is misleading.
2021-02-24 18:33

3rd clip: 2v2, ends as a 1v2, but both players were looking at his teammate, it's a 2v2 with an easy trade. 4th clip: 3v2, his teammates die and he knows through them where the final player is. It comes down to a 1v1, but it was basically a 2v1 for Gambit. 5th clip: 2v3, it's good he gets all 3 kills, but he wins a 1v1 after it becomes a 2v1 in his team's favor, and his teammate did damage seconds before the kill so he knows where the player is. 8th clip: 2v1, he does win the 1v1 against the other player, but they had extremely low health due to his teammate, and again it started in a 2v1 advantage. 9th clip: 3v3 becomes a 2v1 at the very end. Again he wins, but again it's in a situation that's in his favor at the end. 10th clip: 2v1, hits a great shot, but it still started out in his favor. 11th clip: 2v1. Wins through a flank but he had all the info and was in the advantage. 12th clip: 2v1, hits a great final shot but he traded the frag. 8 of the 12 "1vX" situations only ended as a 1vX after his team had the initial advantage. This is NOT the same as winning a 1v3 without info from a teammate that came mere moments before the situation. I'm not taking away from him performing well, but I'm frustrated that this video is framed in the context of seeming like a clutch when often his team had the advantage from the start.

I mean it's not baiting, he's trading the kill and is winning the round. He was clearly proactive in a few of the situations. Just because you're trading a frag doesn't mean you're baiting. If he saved a lot or was consistently the last man standing for extended periods, I would consider that baiting. Baiting is usually a negative thing, if you're trading kills or actively fragging while having a teammate present you're doing your job.

He did play great. The baiting comments are retarded, he did his job. These are not 1vX situations in the traditional sense: where the player was at a disadvantage against multiple opponents, not where he kills the final player by trading his teammate in a 2v1 advantage.

beast

Pretty much all 1v1s. Can't blame him though with how stronk Gambit are playing.

I see a lot of newschool in comments. What people not realize its that sometimes its easy to play 1 vs x (2,3, or 5) if you are last and alone, everything you do is on your own terms and sometimes feel less pressure to clutch 1 vs x not like 3 vs 4. And yes, sh1ro deserves it, always multiple kills or rounds which are hard to win but somehow he does it again & again

Against any good team winning a 1vX in a disadvantage (bomb down, or bomb planted needing to defuse) is infinitely harder than winning a fucking trade fragged 1v1. It's not taking away anything from his performance, but this is simply wrong on any fundamental level.

Agree for sure on that part, but lets be real, in this video sh1ro in few clutches he makes 1-2 important kills only then in the end he clutch it 1 vs x but sheep crowd says otherwise , that he only baits and wins 1x1 trade fragging. Lets be real, he do it versus teams like mouz , g2, not some online t3 stacks, so yea he have it and we will see more from this guy for sure!

what is this? why is hltv promoting this kind of video? he mostly just baits his teammates and win some 1v1... nothing impressive there. sh1ro is an absolute disgusting baiter, similar to jame
