AIm returns to SAW

The Portuguese coach had stepped down from esports less than three weeks ago.

Portuguese coach Ricardo "AIm" Almeida has returned to SAW after announcing a break from esports on February 14, the organisation revealed on Thursday.

The coach had been involved with SAW since the team's creation, in January 2020. His break came as a surprise to many after had they established themselves as a top-30 team in the world, most notably finishing runners-up to Virtus.pro in DreamHack Open December.

AIm is back after a short break

During AIm's break, SAW had middling results, crashing out of the European Development Championship 2 in the quarter-finals and losing to Wisla Krakow and Winstrike in ESEA Premier, in which they currently sit fourth in Group A.

"We're thrilled to announce the return of our coach," SAW wrote on Twitter. "We can't wait for the next achievements with Alm in charge."

AIm will be in charge of SAW later on Thursday as the Portuguese side will face Nemiga in the Swiss Round 4 of Snow Sweet Snow 2, with a playoff spot on the line. This weekend, the team will begin their campaign in the $100,000 Pinnacle Cup, taking on Apeks in their first match.

SAW's roster currently looks as follows:

Portugal Christopher "MUTiRiS" Fernandes
Portugal Ricardo "rmn" Oliveira
Spain Omar "arki" Chakkor
Portugal Renato "stadodo" Gonçalves
Portugal Tiago "JUST" Moura

I don't think he is a good coach, he never achieved anything as coach tbh., but I wish him GL and same to SAW.

It was only made official 3 weeks ago, but he'd already missed most of 2021 before that
2021-03-04 15:21
agree. they said it was personal problems, so we dont need to know what it was, but its wierd
2021-03-04 15:37
He stepped down after the second wave of the spectator bug scandal. You just need to add two plus two to figure out what probably happened

So my speculation seems accurate: was one of the coaches exploiting the spectator bug, stepped down for 3 months with a slap on the wrists and now returns after a "break due to personal reasons".

Ah yes, michau cut AIm out of the coach bug ban list because they are best buddies since highschool. Seems completely plausible my friend, please do present more wonderful theories.

Perhaps there were no evidence to grant him a ban but enough to force him to step down for a period. Not everything is black or white, kid. Can you count the amount of people that were caught cheating in the past and somehow got back into the professional scene? You're an ignorant. The professional scene is rotten from the inside.

Hmm very very interesting. This individual with whom I speak is clearly deep within the csgo pro scene, knowing of all corruption, and not at all as ignorant as any other mere spectator.

2021-03-04 16:39
Yo les noobs, Why should a coach even need to get his aim back?? He shouldn’t have lost it in the first place and he would still be playing.
2021-03-04 16:41
SAW never had AIM in the first place. Also rather than AIM they should focus on GAMESENSE, POSITIONING, TACTICS and CROSSHAIR PLACEMENT.
