Fiend sign VOYVODA roster

The Bulgarian team had been grinding without an organisation since October 2020.

Fiend, a new esports organisation based in the United States, have announced that they have signed the Bulgarian roster known as VOYVODA. The news comes two weeks after the team upset OG and Cloud9 en route to qualifying for DreamHack Masters Spring, a $250,000 tournament set to kick off on April 29.

The core of Viktor "v1c7oR" Dyankov, Kamen "bubble" Kostadinov, and Hristiyan "REDSTAR" Pironkov has been playing together since October 2020 (initially competing under the MBAPPEEK name) and was joined by Martin "mar" Kuyumdjiev and Simeon "dream3r" Ganev in December. The Bulgarians struggled in their first tournaments before surprising just about everyone in their third-place finish in the DreamHack Masters qualifier, in which they also beat K23.

bubble's troops have finally found an organisation

"Having an organization is pretty great as it gives us more tools to succeed," v1c7oR said in a statement. "Signing with this organization provides us with motivation to keep getting better and to prove that this project will work. It also feels good to have an organization that I can call home! Although we're still a new roster, I'm confident that we can achieve even greater things in 2021."

In a recent interview with HLTV.org, v1c7oR expressed his belief that VOYVODA can become an even better version of the Windigo lineup that won the WESG 2018 World Finals and peaked at No.13 in the world rankings in April 2019. The team ended up disbanding later that year after Windigo ceased operations due to financial issues.

Fiend CEO Aleksandr "fataL" Kharnikov, who has been following the Counter-Strike scene for 20 years, said that he had long wanted to own his own team and that the Bulgarian squad ticks all the boxes for him.

"I feel like the time is right with this roster," he explained. "I've followed them for many years, from their early days in GPlay up until MBAPPEEK. All the five players have the right mentality to rise to new heights, which is the drive to work hard and the will to never give up."

Fiend have the following lineup:

Bulgaria Kamen "bubble" Kostadinov
Bulgaria Viktor "v1c7oR" Dyankov
Bulgaria Hristiyan "REDSTAR" Pironkov
Bulgaria Simeon "dream3r" Ganev
Bulgaria Martin "mar" Kuyumdjiev

There's all sort of speculations right now, the strongest one is Envy. But there's also Loud and Flamengo (brazilians orgs), IBP and some other minor ones. They can go anywhere, or even nowhere. But we won't know until mid year, when their contracts with current orgs expire.

I'm sure ptr salary demands by itself can pay for this whole Bulgarian squad, staff, room & board, and a fun e-girl for every night. =) Jokes aside it's because NA scene is dead and Bulgarian aka EU scene is thriving. The smarter investment in this stage of CSGO's life is in a European (EU/CIS) or Brazilian team.

Asian player base in comparison is a lot larger then NA. I think one China server alone = entire US playerbase. steamdb.info/servers/ And NA is pretty dead when you look at it from a business perspective. 1. Large organizations leaving with no equivalent replacing them. Unless Extra Salt & High Coast = GenG, 100T etc. 2. Top players and players in general leaving in droves. 3. No third party tournament organizers are invested in the scene. etc. etc.

And what does that tell you? NA Scene is dead. Yes, they could have signed a T3 team in NA, but, instead they went with a EU team, which was a smart move. Voyvoda can win stuff in EU T3. Its also more money in EU compared with NA tournaments AND on top of that i doubt these Bulgarians gets a huge salary, something BnB would demand lol.

Cool logo. Hope they can qualify for a major, would be really cool to have these stickers.

Mbappek/Voyvoda being a sub par team even in T3 but having a fluke in the dreamhack qualifier. Is the same as when x6tence signed CPH flames without Farling because at that moment they had RMR points...

Lately they had good results under their banner with decent teams (tier 1) so i can't see the bad part here. Yeah obviously they will not be in tier 1 but in tier 2 maybe 3 most likely, time will tell.

They literally just lost 2 bo3 against Blink and almost lost to Brugge. They didn't do anything until the dreamhack qualy. They were a fluke that took advantage of OG and Cloud9 situation. Time will prove me right. I just hope the American Org didn't sign them expecting a T1-T2 team because they'll be dissapointed.

when was the latest major
2021-03-23 20:54
1 - EU is so stacked atm that it must be very difficult for them to reach the major 2 - some players did not have a regular salary for some time. there is nothing better than some financial stability bubble left smash in jun/2020 v1c7oR left windigo in jul/2019 etc.
