Spirit unveil academy team led by Patsi
The sixth player of Spirit's main roster will now focus on leading the youth squad.
Spirit have announced the expansion of their CS:GO division with an academy roster that features six players and a coach from the CIS region. The squad will be led by 17-year-old Robert "Patsi" Isyanov, previously a backup player for the main lineup following his loan signing from Espada.
The head coach role was handed to Sergey "hally" Shavaev, the former CS 1.6 professional who coached Patsi and Abdul "degster" Gasanov in Espada. Community figure Alexey "OverDrive" Birukov helped with the scouting and selection process for the squad, which features largely inexperienced players, with Patsi's teammates combining for only 16 maps covered by HLTV in total.
In an interview on the team's website, coach hally spoke about the roster, saying that "all players have very good mechanics, the desire to play at the top level and, most importantly, the ability to quickly learn and improve their skills," and added that giving Patsi the in-game leader responsibilities was due to a lack of suitable players for that role in the CIS region.
Talking about Spirit Academy's goals, the coach noted that they want to be competitive against teams in the top 50 of the world ranking, and nurture at least "two future tier-one players".
