Vitality sign Kyojin
The 22-year-old player will complete the French roster after the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown.
Jayson "Kyojin" Nguyen Van has been unveiled by Vitality as their new fifth player. The rookie with just 19 maps played on record will step into the shoes of Cédric "RpK" Guipouy, who is set on one last hurrah with the team.
Team coach Rémy "XTQZZZ" Quoniam described their new signing as a "unique player" with "untapped talent and tremendous potential", and hopes to "help him grow in the steps of his predecessor".
Kyojin's addition to the team is akin to that of Kévin "misutaaa" Rabier, who joined Vitality in March of 2020 as a 17-year-old talent. Significantly older, Kyojin will debut for the French side at the age of 22, but XTQZZZ and co. seem set on developing him into a player that fits into the anchor role left vacant by RpK.
At the start of April, Kyojin announced that he was eligible to participate in Valve-sponsored events following rumors of a VAC ban linked to him. The player, who said that the news "will probably change my life", had long sought to get his name cleared by the developer.
Vitality's bench now features both RpK and Nabil "Nivera" Benrlitom. The latter was put on the sidelines last month, with the team citing player-swapping penalties in RMR events as their reason for moving away from their six-man lineup approach.
In explaining the move, Vitality owner Fabien "Neo" Devide noted that Kyojin and Nivera play different roles in the server and that the 22-year-old is one of only a few players in France who can step into RpK's shoes.
