FURIA fend off MIBR to advance in BLAST Premier Spring Showdown

Andrei "arT" Piovezan and company are set to lock horns with Gambit next in the tournament's quarter-finals.

FURIA have eliminated MIBR from the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown following a 2-0 win in the first round of the single-elimination bracket (Mirage 16-14, Vertigo 16-10). The victory sets the Brazilian squad up for a rematch from the ESL Pro League Season 13 group stage against Gambit, who clinched the first-ever encounter between the two teams 2-1 three weeks ago.

"I think we can beat [Gambit]," Paytyn "junior" Johnson said on the official broadcast when asked about the upcoming quarter-final matchup against the current No.1 team in the world. "We hung with them at EPL, we made a couple of mistakes when we could have 2-0d them."

After picking Overpass without success in the last encounter with FURIA in ESL Pro League Season 13 last month, MIBR opted Mirage this time to kick off the rematch in BLAST but were unable to convert the closely-contested opener once again.

FURIA move on to face Gambit in the next round

The favorites around arT managed to shake off two anti-forcebuy losses in the first half to clinch a one-round lead at halftime, and they went on to pick up the first map 16-14 after yet another half that rested on a knife's edge, fending off MIBR's scary attempt at a comeback from an 8-15 deficit.

MIBR were looking to redeem themselves on Vertigo after amassing early momentum on the CT side, which was only stopped when Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato stepped up with an ace to get his team on the board and in brief control of the economy. The underdogs got away with the better half in the end on the back of a Deagle win in the 13th round, but once sides switched it was all about FURIA and their dominance on the defense.

Gustavo "yel" Knittel's men could hardly find a way through as they quickly lost their lead and went on to win only one round off a 1v2 clutch from the in-game leader, before FURIA emerged victorious at 16-10, 2-0.

O Plano didn't go for money, this is a hoax. Mibr already signed BOOM roster behind the scenes.

They were also getting paid as well as $30 a day to eat

O plano seems promising, but this months without playing any official game will cost a lot, when they comeback they will face total different oponentes (gambit/heroic/VP). They may reach top 5, but I can’t see they going any further

They will be top 10 at best. More likely in the top 20-10 range as the slumping teams/new teams like FaZe, EG, G2, Fnatic, BIG etc get back in good form. idk if they even have an org. all I know is there will be no matches until the contracts run out in July

Wtf happened to Boltz though. Literally the guy you would have expected out of everyone there to perform in EU but he has been lackluster against the better tier. He has rekt these good teams before.

I fully agree, Boltz and Felps were the most outstanding in their career with Boom. It was one of the most expected. However, neither of them was able to set foot in Europe. With bad performances all the time. On the contrary, Chelo showed that he could be in a Brazilian team, with very good performance

yea both Boltz and Felps been disappointing in EU so far which is kinda surprising given they have faced tougher opposition before and won as well , hopefully they can get their shit together, i still kinda believe Felps leaving MIBR ruined their chances at snatching victories in EU , they all gelled pretty well together,.

FURIA is showing some potential, but overall I think they lack firepower a lot to be a TOP 5 team. MIBR is showing a little bit of life left in them. GL in the future.
