ALEX leaves Cloud9
The 25-year-old in-game leader is now a free agent.
Alex "ALEX" McMeekin is no longer tied to Cloud9, the British player announced on Twitter on Thursday. Now a free agent, he revealed that he will consider his options in both Counter-Strike and VALORANT.
Less than a month after Cloud9 put its CS:GO division on hold, ALEX exits the North American organization, which still has four players under contract. The departing in-game leader praised his former teammates, saying all of them "would make a great addition to any team".
"Moving forward I’ll be assessing all of my options within Counter-Strike & VALORANT", ALEX wrote in the announcement, hinting at a possible move away from the game in which he has been competing since 2014. Interested parties can contact ALEX via email or Twitter DMs.
Meanwhile, a quartet of CS:GO players is still on Cloud9's roster, including Patrick "es3tag" Hansen whose three-year deal was valued at $2,100,000. The future of the Dane, as well as that of William "mezii" Merriman, Erick "Xeppaa" Bach, and Ricky "floppy" Kemery, remains uncertain.
