Spirit to BLAST Premier Spring Showdown semis over Dignitas

The win sets up Spirit for a clash against G2 for a spot at the Spring Final.

Spirit have fended off Dignitas 2-1 (Nuke 14-16, Dust2 16-9, Inferno 16-7) to advance to the semi-finals of the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown. The Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov-led side now need one more victory to qualify for the Spring Final, as they are heading into Sunday's clash against G2.

After having demolished Liquid on Nuke in the opening round, Dignitas picked the map again in their series against Spirit and reaped the benefits once more, albeit in a much more difficult affair. It took the Swedish-Norwegian team a while to warm up, as they found themselves down 2-8 on the T side after losing an anti-force to Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev's Deagle, but they managed to step up late in the half to make it over to the defense with six.

Spirit are one series away from a spot at the Spring Final

It was Dignitas' turn to find some success with pistols then, with Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson's Deagle finding three in the second round to set up a huge run that saw the underdogs reach map point. Spirit would not let themselves be downed easily and took the map to the last round of regulation, but Adam "friberg" Friberg & co. snatched it away at the last minute, taking matters into their own hands with an aggressive lobby crunch.

Spirit had Dust2 under lock and key for the most part once they got going on their T side following a pistol round loss. With a comfortable 9-6 half in the bag, the Russian-Ukrainian squad went on to trade blows with Dignitas in an extended battle of forcebuys, but they ended up finding the winning formula after six rounds went back and forth and ran a convincing defence to equalize the series at 16-9.

It was a similar story on the deciding Inferno. Beyond a Deagle buy win and a couple of subsequent rounds Dignitas struggled to keep up with Spirit once sdy helped his team get the economy on their side with key multikills, and the favorites went on to put on a dominant showing on the CT side on the back of a second-round force of their own to close the series at 16-7, 2-1.

Like I said before, get rid of Hallzerk for a better awper with more in game IQ and Dignitas would be a great team Expected result, GGs. Too bad Chopper couldn't make the Cadian 2.0 happen, unluko.

Kenny I say would be a big risk given his last official games but yea the FPL version of his might be a great addition. The biggest problem or the issue with him however x would be the communication to switch to English cause they talk Swedish right now.

Yeah I forgot they were fully Swedish. Although furia is making English comms work and Swedes usually speak English fluently, so it wouldn’t be too hard.

That was the garbage version with Xizt and friberg both landing a solid 0.8 rating or less in every single game. This new version with HEAP and lekr0 is much stronger. Would be a good opportunity for GuardiaN to show if he still got it, but i don't think they will get rid of Hallzerk.
2021-04-17 18:37
Little to no impact for an awper, waste of slot in that roster.

Regardless of what happened to his career in CSGO, i think Draken was the last good swedish awper i've seen in a while, maybe nawwk at its best but still

Yea mate, Draken was very much mistreated by the Swedish scene. Yes the 90 degree window was a problem but he rarely got consistent chance and long runs on any team and was always dealt the end of the deal everytime. He had the skllls and game sense to thrive. Sadly he had to take the Valorant route too...

yep , you are right but no one truly has any idea. He has become a lot more inconsistent with the passage of time in the roster to a point where he is the weakest link and holding the team back.

kinda sad that Dignitas lost confidence and momentum on Inferno CT site, otherwise it could've gotten close. 5-1 start to 6-9 is kinda worst possible outcome with that lead starting CT. Still very enjoyable to watch and as the casters said: 'f0rest hasn't aged at all'. Also Friberg performance was pretty solid I think. Hope to see them on more T1 tournaments!
