Heroic take down 9z in BLAST Premier Spring Showdown

The Danish squad extended their win streak to 12 series and is now one victory away from the Spring Finals.

Heroic put an end to 9z's run in BLAST premier Spring Showdown, eliminating the South American squad with a 2-0 scoreline. The series saw Casper "cadiaN" Møller's team continue their unbeaten run since the additions of Ismail "refrezh" Ali and Rasmus "sjuush" Beck both in series (12-0) and on Inferno (6-0).

The losing side, 9z, exits the event after shocking Vitality in the first round. The team's coach Rafael "zakk" Fernandes admitted that they "felt a lot of pressure to close the game" at 12-12 on Inferno. "When we realized we could win against Heroic, that is when the nerves became bigger". Talking about the team's future, the Brazilian hinted at a possible return to Europe or a move to North America in the near future.

The series victors, Heroic, swept 9z on Mirage before moving on to Inferno, which was a much more contested affair. Standout performances from sjuush, René "TeSeS" Madsen, and refrezh secured their victory and a spot in the semi-finals on Sunday, where they will face the winner of Gambit - FURIA for a spot at the BLAST Premier Spring Finals.

Heroic's keep up their strong form.

refrezh's 1v3 clutch gave Heroic the perfect start on Mirage, their opponents map pick, grabbing control of the game early. The Danes' aggressive plays denied 9z any room to work with, seeing them earn just three rounds as Terrorists. Heroic was 14-3 up after winning the second pistol and anti-force, but a eco win held Santino "try" Rigal and co. alive. The underdogs mustered eight rounds, but eventually faltered to Heroic's pace change, 16-8.

The South American team looked much better as the action switched to Inferno. Bruno "BIT" Fukuda Lima was leading by example, with his Deagle quad kill and AK-47 triple proving crucial to 9z securing a 6-2 lead. Heroic then managed to tie a few rounds together and broke their defenders' money, allowing for a strong recovery for the half. 8-7 was the score in favor of cadiaN's squad moving into the second half, but things were far from over. 9z's T side made Heroic sweat as they tied things at 12-12, but sjuush and refrezh kicked it into a higher gear to secure the witn, 16-12.

Heroic is looking great atm., I think it's a begining of something that we could name their era, this roster has never lost a series, it's insane, if they win today vs Gambit, they are absolutely the no.1 team. 9z is great, if they stay in EU for longer they will probably become stable TOP 50 team. GL to them.
