Xeppaa quits CS:GO

The North American player is making the move to Cloud9's VALORANT team with Ricky "floppy" Kemery.

Erick "Xeppaa" Bach has joined his teammate floppy and will continue his career in VALORANT while remaining with Cloud9, the organization he last represented in CS:GO before the team was shut down in March following a tumultuous time in Europe with middling results.

Xeppaa will now play in Cloud9's VALORANT division

Xeppaa rose to prominence in the second half of 2020 as one of the main engines in Chaos's success in North America, quickly becoming one of the region's top prospects. He averaged a 1.17 rating during his time with Chaos, whom he helped to win the North American divisions of IEM Beijing-Haidian and DreamHack Masters Winter.

The 20-year-old was then given a contract in Henry "HenryG" Greer's Cloud9 'Colossus' at the beginning of 2021 to take over Özgür "woxic" Eker's spot on the roster in a three-year deal worth $432,000. However, he only ended up playing a total of five events with the team, who struggled with role changes and poor results until eventually the North American organization put the CS:GO division on hold at the end of March.

My prediction is that a bunch of Players that now Switched to valorant will return when LAN Play resumes and a bunch of orgs start to invest money in NA cs again Or when they get tired of valorant, whichever comes first

Maybe C9 will reinvest in CSGO once LAN comes back but, I don't see more orgs investing in CSGO tho considering they can easily develop the Valorant scene as to CS, you have to spend like 1-2 mil or more on a T1 team (based from article about TSM not joining back to CS) since it already has a structure with a risk of getting fucked because competitions nuts.

^this. Steel left a good impression on the team/vanity as an IGL, but they really broke through and became very successful after he left. Chaos dropping out of esports and nobody picking up the CS roster stings hard for NACS still, but atleast we got BnB out of it with Jonji, and Extra Salt looks great right now with MarkE as well.

that just shows how pathetic valve is to only update the game when it finally has some competition.
2021-04-20 01:07
I definitely agree with that. All Riot needs to change in terms of the competitive aspect is how their qualifiers work. Can't see Sentinels going through tier 2 Valulrant teams with a risk of not qualifying considering they won Masters.
2021-04-20 02:33
You say they care about Valorant, but the gameplay in general in Valorant feels like the fucking CSGO beta in regards to hit registration and model animations, on top of their qualifiers being complete ass, plus they will likely want to franchise which makes the entire competitive scene a LOT less interesting.

everything here is better except -New agents with new mechanics Agents in Valorant suck. The 50 different flashes and abilities you need to counter are disgusting. Wallhacks in-game lol Drones and rocket launchers and trip wires and cameras. This right here alone will kill the game for any real tac shooter fan. Doesn't matter how much you try to paint shit gold it's still shit

Your opinion obviously isn't the same as the opinion as every other tac shooter fan that switched to valorant. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others don't like it. Also 50 different flashes and abilities, but only a mix of 5 agents per team, many of which aren't viable. Valorant has a lot more tactical depth (but less mechanical depth) than csgo. And it is seeming to catch on quite well despite your opinion

Told that to a person who does not know what a server is and only want to play a quick game without tryharding. Csgo is an old game with old concepts and old interfaces, if csgo wants to compete against valorant, they will need to improve on the presentation of the game

zero new content i should have said. it's the same maps we were playing 7 years ago, same guns, same everything. i get that's just what cs is, but it gets old. the updates/changes they've made have only made the game worse (new CT/T models, new queue system that splits the dwindling NA playerbase even more.) you're actually a moron if you truly think they have more than 3 people working on csgo. meanwhile valorant has a new map, agent, and battlepass every few months. meta is always evolving and it has 128 tick servers. it's laughable that you think anyone would come back to csgo at this point.
2021-04-20 01:02
4 replies
Well to be fair, every map in Valorant is pretty cheeks besides Ascent and Bind. They might add new maps but they aren’t really good lol. The new agents agents aren’t bad, it’s similar to siege, but metas are bad imo and kill or destroy games. Metas completely changed siege and overwatch, especially overwatch for the worst. And how did the matchmaking queue system change? I normally have to wait longer for valorant queues than I do for CS and im in the high diamond to low immortal range.
2021-04-20 02:49
1 reply
my point is valorant at least gives you something to look forward to, it's still evolving and it could turn out to be something great one day. csgo is just same old csgo. this is just my personal opinion and you can think whatever you want. maybe metas and new additions will ruin valorant but either way it'll be an interesting ride. grinding csgo is 2021 just feels like you're stuck in pergatory. also i'm west coast NA (which is dead) so i have to wait 6 minutes plus for csgo games but valorant is always always under 3 minutes even with 5 stacks.

Maybe I am a boring person, but I like the cs among shooters as a classic. It's like chess, models against models, everyone knows how what works, maps from childhood, it has been tested over the years, there is no need to invent something extraordinary. Only sometimes change the pool of competitive maps (vertigo/cobble/cache/tuscan/aztec, again we all know them), the balance of weapons, so that it would not be like with krieg in 2019. I would have made desert eagle a bit more expensive, all the rest is ideal
2021-04-20 09:38
1 reply
Absolutely agree with you. In fact, classic models also means a screenplay or a script that makes sense which, in terms of features, Valorant does not have at all. It's a game and by definition a fantasy but, let's try to keep it real otherwise, we might as well go to LoL or similar...

I think they know CS Is the harder and more skilled game/higher skill gap. I think everyone knows that, the pros and just players in general. A silver in CSGO is pretty much a plat in Valorant.
2021-04-19 23:53
That's not at all what it is? Years if not decades of experience in a game that is highly similar to Valorant is obviously going to translate well into valorant skill. Also since the skill ceiling in Valorant is not super high in mechanics but it IS high in teamplay/strats, players who have experience in top level teams in CS will tend to perform really well in Valorant top level since what they're really good at compared to your average player is that team element, not necessarily mechanics. Valorant mechanics are quite easy to learn, teamplay is not, so of course they have an edge over everyone that comes from different games or has started purely in valorant. They've had years to develop that teamplay in CS which is highly similar
2021-04-20 11:24
wasted money id say
2021-04-19 23:21
Another example of players who couldnt make it in csgo goes to valorant. If xeppaa and floppy played well in c9 they would still be in csgo.

If you're a pro in CS you are likely pro level in valorant* given that the pro level in valorant compared to the rest of players in valorant is mainly differentiated in teamplay and strategy, not mechanics, that makes total sense.

I mean not in terms of money(coz u will make a lot of money).Nitr0 is bad example coz he plays for prob best team in Valorant.Mostly players like S0m,Daps,Leaf,Autimatic are wasting their careers coz of results.

LUL9 ISNT EMBARESSED ENOUGH TO KEEP AN ESPORTS TEAM OK

Wait for VaLULorant to crash and burn, and come back to CS:GO

bruh the only thing that's crashing and burning is this 2004 engine, past it's prime game. people look at the steam playercount and think csgo is doing good, not realizing most of that is chinese perfect world bots. csgo has been stagnating for years and nothing will change that other than a source 2.0 overhaul or a brand new cs game.

Chinese players have nothing to do with the steam player count but nice try. You just gotta accept the fact that CS;GO is actually that popular.

it does though, i'm not going to argue this stupid ass point for the 10th time though so just look on here. you can also look at how singapore alone has 10x the US west coast playerbase. steamdb.info/servers/

West coast is always dead when it comes to PC gaming. Also NA is actually the smallest continent if we think about video gamers in general. Europe has twice as many, Asia is waaaaay bigger than anything else. So i'm not really surprised that NA servers are not showing up as your continent simply has the smallest amount of gamers.
2021-04-20 07:05
They do though. CSGO reached its peak concurrent player count and peak monthly player count the same month wuhan went into lockdown.

still chinese servers makes only 100k out of 1 million concurrent players.

good for him tbh, sad for the CS scene to lose him. He defenitly could have been in a top 15 team
2021-04-20 00:56
Shame. He had potential.

That's presumptious? Floppy grinded MDL for three years. There's two teams left in NA signing players and they are literally all full. What do you expect them to do with their skill set? What a stupid mind set.

I'm chill I just honestly think it's disrespectful for people that grinded for years and years. Say what you will about fucking Crashies or whomever but guys like Floppy and Xeppa grinded their asses off and frankly should never have been cut.

well there was no other option back then so they stuck to play cs
2021-04-20 09:47
He honestly had a lot of potential, but Valorant's biggest audience is NA, and NA orgs want to sign more Valorant players for obvious reasons. Makes sense from his career perspective, but this just continues the bad news for CS scene :(

That's sad, idk why everyone is celebrating. PLayers are switching to Valorant on daily basis from average casuals to professional active/non-active players.
