Vitality knock out OG from Flashpoint 3

The French side move on in the lower bracket after putting in a solid display.

Vitality are through to the second round of Flashpoint 3's lower bracket following a convincing 2-0 victory over OG, who are the first team to be eliminated from the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament. After an embarrassing 0-2 loss to DBL PONEY on Monday, Vitality roared back thanks to a dominant performance from star player Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, who was extremely effective with rifles and the AWP.

"I think players are scared to play against French players," Dan "apEX" Madesclaire said about the defeat to DBL PONEY. "We were not really focused enough and that was a terrible game, really one of the worst that I've played with Vitality in almost three years.

"I just asked my players to play our game and not think about the result, just think about the way we practice and the way we play CS. Today was much better."

ZywOo put in a series-high 1.49 rating as Vitality beat OG

It was a frustrating afternoon for OG, who were on the back foot for most of the series despite winning three pistol rounds, but especially for Shahar "flameZ" Shushan, who looked out of sorts. Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen will be hoping to have his team up to speed by the time IEM Summer kicks off, on June 3.

Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså opened up the action on Dust2 with a stunning 1v3 clutch to fire OG into the lead. That was the beginning of a chaotic period during which rounds went both ways and neither side managed to assert authority over the other, but then Vitality picked up the pace and carved OG's defence open, storming to a 9-3 lead. A quad-kill from Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen, who ended the half with a 1.38 rating and a 102 ADR, breathed new life into OG, who were able to reduce the deficit to just three rounds.

ZywOo, the only Vitality player to end the first half with a positive K-D (13-8), continued to show his class in the second half as the French team maintained their dominance over OG. The international team picked up the pistol round, but they were frustrated by Vitality's well-organised defence in the remainder of the half.

The first half of Inferno was almost a carbon of Dust2's, this time with Mateusz "mantuu" Wilczewski leading the charge as OG recovered from an 8-1 deficit to end the half down by just one round.

A quad-kill by Jayson "Kyojin" Nguyen Van gave Vitality their first pistol round of the series, with the French side following that up with the next two rounds to bring the scoreline to 11-7. OG then tightened up and took the upper hand, but their hopes of taking the series to a third map were dashed in the 26th round, when Richard "shox" Papillon picked up three key frags in a 2v4 situation. That round shifted the momentum back towards the French side, who ran away with the game.

Ez for GOAT zywoo best player 2019/2020/2021

I think that a player can't just become the GOAT by amassing Top1's. And yes, this also applies to s1mple. It's unfair, I understand. But winning is at the core of the sport, not a ranking. That's my opinion at least. He is in BOAT contention though, indeed.

How long will "unluko bracket" be credited for their losses or any other struggling teams' losses for that matter? Vitality and Astralis though performed better than what they were showing recently but they were still far form their 2020 form. There are 4-5 definite better teams than them right now and if OG can't still take them down, they should forget about being a Tier 1 team contesting for titles. AleksiB getting hyped as a Top 3 IGL (even I was on that bandwagon) yet its been more than one year and they still haven't won something relevant , not even played the final of something relevant.

2021-05-15 21:40
What losses? The 2 losses here? Or the 1 other loss this roster has (a close series with G2) This roster has only been together for 1 month ffs, they've played 7 BO3's. Hardly fair to imply this roster is done after a month.

They have been crying over lack of bootcamp and even crediting it towards their performance sometimes. They had a bootcamp now, practiced more in a single day there then they did with Issa and NBK in a week yet their results are still varying on Valde carrying them while Mantu being impact less with the awp. I do take into account the fact that it's still not that old of a roster but I don't have any expectations of improvement from them with the given system. G2 loss can be written off cause they are a Top 4 team right now but if they can't win Astralis and Vitality even in their current form, they aren't improving.
2021-05-15 21:52

They are not boot camping right now. FlameZ is playing in the Israel with high ping while worrying about getting bombed. I do think OG needs a better AWPer.
2021-05-15 23:07
1) you didn't watch the game, did you? 2) you also didn't watch the astralis game 3) OG never bootcamped with NBK/Issaa

I did watch the game, though not all of it. I watched the whole of Astralis game where they got runned down by the Danes on both maps until Astralis started doing braindead things on Inferno which OG capatilized on and when Astralis started throwing on Nuke just to close it late. I never said they bootcampped with Issa and NBK, I implied the opposite in my comment. I was a fan of this team since day 1 but over the years I have lost hope.
