Anonymo eliminate HYENAS from Flashpoint 3
Anonymo secured victory over the Danes in the last round of the decider map, Mirage.
Anonymo survive to fight another day at Flashpoint 3 after defeating HYENAS in a hotly contested three-map series that ended on the last round of regulation in the series' third map, Mirage.
"We just wanted to go full rounds on Mirage, that's why we went all the way until the end," Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski joked in the post-match interview as the Polish squad was recently on the short end of a decision to replay the decider map of their opening match against Ninjas in Pyjamas, Mirage, which they lost the second time around on Tuesday with a 14-16 scoreline.
HYENAS, who were criticised by Martin "STYKO" Styk after their opening match for signing up to the event with René "cajunb" Borg in order to keep a three-man core and remain eligible to play in the RMR circuit but then substituted the Danish veteran out, are now out of the tournament in 13-16th place following two straight losses, which gives the team 250 RMR points.

Four MAC-10 kills by Kamil "KEi" Pietkun in the second round propelled Anonymo ahead on the attacking side of Nuke despite a pistol round loss, but it was HYENAS who were able to take control with an eight round streak before the Poles brought it back to a satisfactory 6-9 half. A triple by KEi in the second pistol round then tipped the balance in Anonymo’s favor as they went on to tie the map up, 9-9. It seemed the Poles were going to run away with the map as they tallied three more rounds, but HYENAS bit back and took it all the way to the last round before falling 14-16.
Overpass started out with the two teams fighting for control, but it was HYENAS, this time on the T-side in the first half, who were once again able to get a slight lead going into the half with the same scoreline as on Nuke. Despite losing the two first rounds the Danes continued to push early on in the second half as Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye led the way with 27 kills in HYENAS' 16-9 victory to force a decider map in the series.
Anonymo lept ahead on the attacking side, winning six rounds uncontested before HYENAS put up a solid defense with multi-kills by Kjaerbye and Frederik "Fessor" Sørensen, but the Danes were back to playing catch-up as they lost three of the four following rounds, although they then brought it back to 6-9. Kacper "Kylar" Walukiewicz and Paweł "innocent" Mocek closed down the B site in the second pistol round to hit double digits as Anonymo ran ahead on the scoreboard, although the Danish squad soon got in hot pursuit. A 1vs2 afterplant clutch by Kjaerbye at 12-14 kept the Danes on the road to victory, but they then lost a 5vs3 situation at 14-14 that ended up being fatal as Anonymo closed the map out 16-14 to secure the series and proceed through the lower bracket.
