G2 send Heroic to Flashpoint 3 lower bracket
G2 are through to the RMR tournament's upper bracket semi-final after securing their second victory.
G2 are continuing to show that the team is coming together following their 3-4th place at DreamHack Masters Spring, where they lost only to Gambit, as they have now knocked Heroic down from the Flashpoint 3 upper bracket with a 2-1 victory, a strong follow-up after beating FaZe in the opening round of the Regional Major Ranking tournament.
The world’s No. 3 team will now proceed through the lower bracket following their loss to G2, and will face Complexity on Friday in their first elimination match, while Nemanja "nexa" Isaković and company are through to the upper bracket semi-finals, where they will face the victor of the Ninjas in Pyjamas vs. FunPlus Phoenix match.
"I don’t know what to expect from NIP, I’m not sure how to rate them, while I know that FPX is a great team," Nikola "NiKo" Kovač said when asked about his possible next rivals. "It’s going to be one hell of a game, that's for sure."

Audric "JACKZ" Jug hammered Heroic on the attacking side of Inferno with his entry kills as G2 lept to an early 7-1 lead on their map pick. The Danes rallied after an abysmal start and won two rounds in a row, and although they weren’t able to get on a roll midway through the half they tallied the final two defenses, making it 5-10 at the switch. Heroic made a push to shorten distances on the scoreboard after securing the second round forcebuy and the two following rounds, but ran out of wind as G2 closed the map out 16-11.
G2 brought their momentum from Inferno over to Nuke, and got off to a flying start on the CT side with both NiKo and Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač popping off with over 100 ADR each in the first ten rounds, which were split 9-1 in favor of the Kovač cousins’ team. Heroic fared better in the final five rounds of the half, taking three of them, and on the CT side the Danes regained their composure, bringing the map back to a closely contested affair which they were able to win in the very last round, 16-14.
Despite the tough ending to the second map, G2 took hold early on in the decider map, Mirage, going up 6-1, but Heroic didn’t let the half get away and slowly got themselves back in the running as they built a sturdy economy, although G2 remained ahead at the switch, 9-6. NiKo and François "AMANEK" Delaunay got doubles in the second pistol round for G2 to hit double digits, after which they ran away with the map on the CT side, winning 16-7 to secure the series and a place in the upper bracket semi-finals.
