NIP knock out Heroic in IEM Summer Group B lower bracket

Heroic gave up a 13-4 lead on Mirage before losing the series on their own map pick, Nuke.

NIP have secured a spot in the Group B lower bracket final after beating the No.2 team in the world, Heroic, 2-0. The Danes weren’t able to bounce back in the elimination match after they were dealt a blow in the upper bracket, where they lost to Evil Geniuses, and were taken out by the Swedes after leading 13-4 in the first map.

NIP, whose newcomer Linus "LNZ" Holtäng made two big back-to-back plays to keep the team’s Mirage comeback alive, put forth a strong defense on Nuke after losing the map five times in a row prior to this match and followed it up with a strong T-side to secure the series and advance in the lower bracket, where they will next face the winner of the CIS derby matching Spirit and Virtus.pro.

"We didn’t play Nuke a lot before. We played it, but not a lot, so device came in with a lot of input and kind of told us how to play it," Hampus "hampus" Poser said after defeating Heroic on that map. "We had our style, but we added some new things and here we are."

device and hampus put forth impressive performances on Nuke

Doubles by Martin "stavn" Lund and Ismail "refrezh" Ali on the CT side of Mirage got Heroic off to an early advantage as they took six rounds uncontested before doubling down on their superiority, winning the half 11-4. The second pistol round got the Danes even closer to taking NIP’s map pick, but the Swedes were able to win a third round forcebuy. Down 9-13, LNZ saved two 2-4 situations with triple kills as the hampus-led team brought it back to a tie, which persisted all the way to thirty rounds. NIP then put up a perfect defense before closing the map out in the last round of OT, 19-17.

NIP secured the first pistol round on the defending side of Nuke before taking a 3-0 lead. Heroic hit back with an A execute to get on the board in the fourth round, but were on the losing side of a B-site retake as the Swedes made it 4-1. Nicolai "device" Reedtz and hampus kept up the pace as NIP remained ahead, although Heroic were able to remain close, 6-9 at the half. NIP hit double digits in the second pistol round after which they cruised along on the T-side, breaking through Heroic's defenses to a 16-7 victory and securing a spot in the Group B lower bracket final.

Honestly, even if i like cadran, I hate hunden and he deserves to lose. All other ban coaches wait until the end of their ban. Hunded joined heroic as an analyst and he was one of the most guilty. Looking foward to see this guy lose again.

How was Hunden "one of the most guilty"? He had two cases compared to Rejin with 7 or zoneR with 16 cases.

+1 On top of that, as I recall, he actually admitted to abusing it and proceeded to aid in the investigation itself. Certainly, he was guilty, but I'm not sure why the hate has been blown out of proportion for him.

+1 Yeah, his ban was shorter than it would have been (8 months instead of 10 i think) because he helped in the investigation. I don't really get the hate on him at all though, obviously he cheated which is a proper ratty thing to do, but he served his punishment without complaint. Is his whole career supposed to just be over now even tho the ban was only 8 months?

i mean the biggest fraud is b1ggy, the heretics coach. he got a job in valorant with the worst professional track record i have ever seen. as a player he matchfixed in his time at epsilon, and he was a serial abuser of the coaching bug as a coach. banned from play permanently for matchfixing, banned from coaching permanently for abusing bugs, and yet he still gets a job in valorant. what a joke
2021-06-05 19:53
I didn't know that part. The fact that he helps for investigation. Even it is only 2 cases, I changed the income of match around 15-15 score. I was not 2 times, but around 7-8 times in 2 matches. He knew what he was doing and it changes the outcome of the matches. He admits after been caught. I was not like Pita who ask valve to do something. The guy wanted to have an edge over astralis. Maybe, I'm overeacted. ZoneR is really worse. I didn't know Biggy was on valorant now.

I just think it is an unfair characterization. He cheated, it was shitty. But if we compare his situation to all the other guilty parties, the level of his crime is somewhere in the middle. Many people did far worse, which is not an excuse but just a comment on your first comment. This guy lives and breathes Counter-Strike. Is he supposed to leave the industry? You have to understand that the guy has helped almost every single danish player who eventually became a pro for over a decade - in some way or another. He has been driving talent development through countless of teams as a player, and so many people will contribute a part of their career to the guy. You would be in awe if you knew how many current pros played on one of his teams in their very youth. As for now, I think you can leave your pitchfork at home.

I know, Hunden was part of almost every team in Danish. Acor, sjuush and bubzky won't be at that level without him. I just hope he learned something from it and he can control his greed for winning.

Not hard being top 5 if you look at the teams currently Literally all top teams atm are onliners, getting to finals in one tournament, getting knocked out by a tier 2 team the next But no doubt NIP can be a very capable team, already was before claiming Dev1ce

WIth 4 k hours, if you make a team with same amount of played hours, you can earn as much as these "pros". People are too lazy to try this or they have better things to do, if you believe in yourself, you can easily compete with these teams. You'll see in the future many new teams, uknown players, who can aim as good as any "pro".
