Sources: Sprout consider removing denis

The German organisation is mulling over its options in the off-season.

Sprout are weighing up the possibility of removing Denis "denis" Howell from their starting lineup following a frustrating tournament season, multiple sources have told HLTV.org.

The Berlin-based organisation is considering recreating an international roster just seven months after returning to an all-German team with the signings of Marko "kressy" Đorđević and Fritz "slaxz-" Dietrich, the sources said. The pair were brought in to replace Michał "snatchie" Rudzki and Paweł "dycha" Dycha, who went on to join AGO and ENCE, respectively.

denis returned to Sprout in September 2019 after a short spell with BIG

The victories in European Development Championship 2 and ESL Meisterschaft Spring were practically the only bright spots of an otherwise disappointing season for Sprout, who placed 11th in Flashpoint 3, 13th-16th in IEM Summer and 9th-12th in IEM Cologne Play-In.

After a deep run in ESEA Premier Season 36, the German team found themselves staring relegation in the face in Season 37, only avoiding the drop to Advanced with a 2-1 victory over Anonymo in a do-or-die match.

Apart from a brief spell with BIG in mid-2019, denis has been on Sprout's books since the organisation was created, in December 2017. The 26-year-old, who previously played for teams like EYES ON U, PENTA and mousesports, has attended several international events with Sprout, including ELEAGUE Major Boston, where the team were eliminated in the New Challengers Stage.

Sprout are currently ranked 10th in the European Regional Major Ranking (RMR) table, with 600 points. In the event of a roster change, they will lose 20 per cent of their points (120) but will still qualify for the next RMR tournament as a Contender.

Contacted by HLTV.org, Sprout declined to comment.

2021-07-26 17:54
nah that is a 0/8 from me XD idk germans always love netherlands or something... not everyone speaks German by far and it might say 80% or something,,, that is just not true, people get it in high school for like 2 years and then dont do anything with it for the rest of their lives. without training is tough to follow, you might get the meaning of a sentence if you read it on a sign which isnt special, could prob do the same with french... but when talking... nah cant follow

Yeah, I agree 100%. I've learned speaking okay'ish Dutch over the years when I played in Dutch teams, also by the help of studying a Dutch language textbook. The more I got into Dutch the more I had realized how badly I missunderstood sentences which I really thought I would understand before that.

there's enough talented players in the german scene, you just have to give them a chance. better than recycling all the old shit every change... same in swedish scene.

i bet my balls there are tens if not hundreds of t1 potential players hidden in germany, however the problem is that noone caught an eye of scouts

i mean look at big academy, come out nowhere and players like aqua and glaved look promising. also other guys like skyye, j1n... sick talents but no chance given. i think they mostly play valorant now problem is that people like denis are too much friends with team managers and orgas... and then a shitshow like sprout happens
2021-07-25 21:16
there's so much promising talents, especially firepower wise in germany (but the scene is lacking IGLs) like #76 said, BIG academy's looking promising and i havent heard of any of these players before they formed also krimbo, kyuubi, devrann, prosus, panix, slaxz, kressy, s1n, skyye....
2021-07-27 15:14
+1 german scene had recycled washed up spiidi, denis, krystal, crisby etc for way too long
2021-07-25 23:58
Germany has a really good talent pool, the issue is the same 20 people keep on forming teams because no one wants to IGL, but most of those 20 people always want to have the last word so they would rather lose and destroy the team instead of talents becoming better than them.

It's sad but nowadays even Spiidi is performing better than him. He is basically useless against good teams and I doubt BIG would add him to replace XANTARES. I don't even know how he is still in Sprout because imo people like Krimbo, JDC, prosus and aqua are surely better him.

Yeah he played for them for 2 months in 2019 but then got benched when smooya and nex rejoinend. If BIG were surprised by his performance they would've kept him and I don't think that they want to try him out again 2 years later
2021-07-25 21:00
sprout remove denis cuz he bad, so why should big take him when he is shit
2021-07-25 21:53
Bruh why? they had a pretty good international roster until they wanted to go german and now back to international. its making a good team with a couple extra unecesary steps in the middle

What makes you think they’re going international by removing denis? There are many German-speaking players that could replace him: rigoN, Krimbo, someone from BIG Academy like glaVed, prosus. ChrisJ also speaks German, but I don’t know if he would agree to join.

True, denis is not the problem. What are they expecting ? Top10 with this current roster ? They lost to many stupid rounds against team spirit. They managed a lot of rounds on t's side of nuke and then, choke so hard. Lost a 4 vs 2, because they can't hold angles.

You gotta be realistic. These sort of rumours are not normally known by a huge group of people and are not wanted to known by the org to the public. So when these rumours come to light it's understood by everyone that someone in the group of insiders talked which no one likes as it can create a climate of mistrust in the organistions. It's also a super basic journalist move to not only protect your sources but verify their information with 3rd sources especially when working for a reputable source like HLTV

Denis did great with his gamesense and fragging especially in pistol rounds other than kressy who is completly bad. Eitherway Spidii cant IGL at all what shoud replace him along with kressy. Then Sprout should add skyee, devran, or someone else from a half filled german pro team!
