The Dane will make his official debut with BIG in ESL Pro League Season 14 as part of the starting lineup.

BIG have completed the signing of Nicklas "⁠gade⁠" Gade, the German organization has announced. The 26-year-old has been added to the team's starting lineup, which now features six players and whose final composition will be revealed in the near future.

The move sees gade quickly return to action after he was left teamless in early July, when HYENAS — a mix team featuring a combination of remnants from a variety of Danish teams such as North and Heroic — decided to call it quits following the retirement of Markus "⁠Kjaerbye⁠" Kjærbye.

"Joining BIG has had me excited ever since it was decided. It puts a smile on my face just thinking about it," gade said in a press release. "After having some time where you're not certain of what the future would hold, it is definitely a feeling of pure joy now knowing this is my new home."

"I hope and believe I can bring the final bits and pieces to take this project to the next level."

The former North player joins BIG at a time when the German side has struggled for deep runs as of late, with a top-eight finish at IEM Cologne, fifth place at Flashpoint 3, and a win at FunSpark ULTI Europe Final being the highlights of their 2021 campaign so far.

I hope and believe I can bring the final bits and pieces to take this project to the next level

gade has been added to the lineup to help bring the team back towards the No.1 spot, where BIG resided in the middle of 2020 after clinching three tournament victories in a span of two months. He will assist Johannes "⁠tabseN⁠" Wodarz in his duties at the head of the team, having had experience with the in-game leading role in his time with HYENAS and North in the past few years.

"Due to his vast experience and leadership qualities, we expect Nicklas to play a key role in our team's future, as he will also support tabseN inside and outside the game," BIG's CEO, Daniel Finkler, shared. "We will announce the final roster composition of our starting lineup in the near future."

BIG's official debut with their newest member will take place in ESL Pro League Season 14. The German side have been placed in Group C alongside Natus Vincere, FaZe, MOUZ, Evil Geniuses, and fnatic, which will run from August 27-31.

Many people in North and Eastern Europe learn German. Also German is related to Danish /Swedish etc so for Scandinavian it's probably the easiest to learn German since many words are somewhat familiar.

Really sad to see big getting torn apart. They were in such a slump for quite some time. It was nice seeing them achieve success afterwards. Big wasn't a bad team. They weren't top ones and had inconsistencies, but considering their previous history they were still doing great. Hands down. Gade's aim is for sure not as good as XANTARES is. But Xantares was not able to perfom on a daily base. He had huge up's and downs. Also BIG's biggest problem was always communication. Gade can speak German and plays pretty smart. So as a 2nd IGL Tabsen could step up a little. So could work out. =) Lets see what the future brings.
