XANTARES transfer listed in BIG
The Turkish star's time with BIG is coming to an end following a tenure lasting two and a half years.
BIG have announced the removal of Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş from their starting lineup. The Turkish player was moved to the transfer list to make way for the team's newest member, Nicklas "gade" Gade, who was added to the roster on Saturday.
The organization's CEO, Daniel Finkler, has revealed that BIG are considering offers for the 25-year-old and that they will announce further updates "as soon as we have found an appropriate solution for all parties." Barring changes, XANTARES' contract is set to expire at the end of 2021 after he signed a one-year extension in 2020.
"I have decided to follow a new path both for my career and for myself," XANTARES said in a Twitlonger post. "Aside from the good times I have spent while I played at BIG I have also had the opportunity to be able to realize my dream of being ‘Top 1’ among the teams rating and we succeeded in making our team the world’s number one."
XANTARES joined BIG in late-2018, forming a core with Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz and Tizian "tiziaN" Feldbusch that would go on to last for over two and a half years amid several changes in the last two positions.
A tumultuous 2019 saw the team struggle as they underwent key roster moves including the retirement of Fatih "gob b" Dayik, but in 2020 BIG found stability with the signings of Nils "k1to" Gruhne and Florian "syrsoN" Rische and won their first LAN event, DreamHack Open Leipzig. Five more international titles and a two-month stint at No.1 in the rankings followed when the scene moved online, with XANTARES clinching the HLTV.org MVP award for his performances in the team's title-winning campaign at DreamHack Open Summer.
The team has not been able to reach the same heights in 2021, which has led to the addition of gade to the roster, whose core will now be able to communicate in their first language for the first time since the organization decided to go international in 2018.
"For over two and a half years now, XANTARES has worn the BIG jersey. He has delivered outstanding performances as a player on a world-class level, and he deserves our sincere gratitude and respect," BIG's CEO, Daniel Finkler, said. "On behalf of BIG, we would like to thank XANTARES for his services and achievements as a player and wish him all the best for the future."
