k0nfig to be out of action for at least 4-6 weeks
The Danish veteran will undergo surgery on Wednesday after breaking his right wrist.
On Tuesday, Complexity announced that they would be using a stand-in for Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke during ESL Pro League Season 14 as the Danish player was dealing with a wrist injury. k0nfig has made a series of posts on Twitter to add more details about his situation, in which he explained that he has broken and dislocated his wrist and that, after he undergoes surgery, he will need to wear a cast for up to six weeks.
This announcement puts a more concrete length on the Dane's time of absence, as k0nfig looks set to miss well over a month of competition rather than just the duration of ESL Pro League. This also has the potential to impact the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, in which Complexity are set to play, starting on September 16.
HLTV.org reported on Tuesday that Niels Christian "NaToSaphiX" Sillassen will stand in for the team during EPL, with the player having already been added to Complexity's official event roster as a substitute.
Complexity will kick off their Pro League run on Saturday, August 21 against forZe. The team will hope to remain in contention for a top-three spot in Group B and qualification for the playoffs despite their current situation, which will not only see k0nfig take a step back but also Patrick "es3tag" Hansen play his official debut with the squad.
Below is the expected Complexity lineup for ESL Pro League Season 14:
Luis "peacemaker" Tadeu (coach)
Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke (medical leave)
