honda to play final event for FURIA in ESL Pro League Season 14
The 21-year-old will have one last ride with FURIA before shifting to the organisation's academy roster.
FURIA will play ESL Pro League Season 14 with Lucas "honda" Cano, head coach Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira has announced. The Brazilian organisation revealed on Monday that André "drop" Abreu would be promoted from FURIA Academy to take honda's place on the main roster, with the new composition planning to debut in ESL Pro League.
However, as drop was not registered on FURIA's official roster for the tournament and they were outside of the transfer deadline, the team required an emergency transfer request to be granted by ESL in order to field their new addition.
With the transfer request being rejected, FURIA have opted to fly honda in for one final event with the main roster, who will take on Entropiq on September 1 at 16:45 for their opening match of Group D.
drop's first appearance with the team has been postponed until FURIA's next tournament, although the organisation previously confirmed that they will continue to search for a permanent fifth moving forward.
Notably, drop is currently ineligible to compete in Valve tournaments due to owning a VAC-banned account, which he confessed was caused by using a skin changer tool when he was 12. The ban from Valve events is set to elapse on September 7, 2021 after the game developer updated its eligibility rules in April, leaving drop free to compete across the circuit.
