iNation revived with Anlaki roster: "The return was planned for a long time"
iNation has announced its comeback, bringing back the moniker established in 2008 under which most of the notable players from the Serbian scene plied their trade.
NiKo, kassad, and Janko "YNk" Paunović are just some of the former iNation members that have publicly supported the new project, featuring in the organization's vide announcing the signing of the roster previously known as Anlaki.
The former players aren't a part of the ownership, the organization clarifies, but have "supported the idea of handing over their legacy to these fresh rising talents". The new iNation squad has been playing under the tag Anlaki over the past two months, finishing runners up to 4glory in the Esport Adria Championship Season 5, but managed to beat their domestic rivals in the Serbian qualifier for IESF 2021 a few weeks later.
The roster consists of a mixture of experienced regional talent and up-and-comers, as well as a backup player, and coach Velizar "Djokabomba" Peric.
"The vision of iNation is to create a healthy competition in the Adria region and to help regional CS:GO talent and teams to elevate the scene onto a higher level," Djokabomba said in a comment to regional website Esport Adria.
"The return of iNation was planned for a long time, but there was always a lack of time, players, or dedication to maintain the integrity that the predecessors of this team built — who are now some of the most recognizable names in esports," Djokabomba adds, referring to the likes of NiKo and kassad. "When a young blockchain company based in Cyprus, Venidium, expressed their wish to financially support iNation, the team came together spontaneously."
Alongside IESF, where iNation will compete in the East Europe qualifier for a spot at the LAN in Israel, the team has secured a slot in the eighth season of the A1 Adria League, and plans to participate in as many international qualifiers as possible.
