As a legend of the French scene ends an illustrious career, we reflect on his contribution to CS:GO's professional scene.

French Counter-Strike legend Cédric "⁠RpK⁠" Guipouy recently called time on his glittering, trophy laden career. From his start in 2007 in Counter-Strike: Source to 2021 and his recent time in Vitality, the rifler has been a part of some of the most successful French rosters in CS history.

RpK's time in CS:GO saw him play for a litany of top French rosters and represent some of the most recognisable organisations that have graced the scene, including VeryGames, Titan, G2, Envy and most recently Vitality.

He also played alongside virtually all of the other CS:GO legends France has produced, including names like Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub, Adil "⁠ScreaM⁠" Benrlitom, Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon, Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire and of course France's most recent emerging talent Mathieu "⁠ZywOo⁠" Herbaut.

RpK leaves behind an impressive legacy

Nicknamed 'Le Tank' by the community for his ability to brute force his way through teams like a one man army, he showed real versatility throughout his career, at times acting as a carry threat for his teams such as stints in 2016 and 2017 on G2 and Envy respectively, but also showing an ability to be a more supportive element when needed, such as his most recent time in Vitality.

He retires with a plethora of trophies and top placings to his name, the titles at ECS Season 1, ECS Season 7 and EPICENTER 2019 being some of the highlights.

The former may arguably be his personal highlight during CS:GO, with Le Tank posting a 1.24 rating and 73% success rate in opening duels as his team romped to victory ahead of Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo's Luminosity, the original NIP core, the fnatic roster that famously won six straight events, and an Astralis featuring Markus "⁠Kjaerbye⁠" Kjærbye and Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen.

More than likely most of those highlights have been lost to time. The only people who could probably make a video with clips of his entire career from CSS would be tweeday or rechyy if they kept their archives since he was active until early COVID.

There's a difference between taking content from other peoples channels, compiling it and uploading it over using the original GOTV demos to make your own content. Like you've done a good job cutting the source audio and resizing the videos so they can't claim the video and copyright strike it but if HLTV did that they could get a strike on their channel since they monetize their footage.

Do gotta say, it's a little disrespectful to NBK just make the one "NBK transitions to Valorant" post when he was one of the greatest players to ever touch the game. No disrespect to RpK btw, he is a legend on his own regards. Even tho his prime was in Source and there's literally not a single clip from him in CS:Source. It's like if I make a montage of NEO and I just show CSGO clips, that's no way to remember him lmao. But yeah, if we're gonna be making videos for players' retirements then shit like GeT_RiGhT and NBK should 100% get videos. As a way for us all to remember them for how great they were and how much they gave to the community.
