MIBR to field nak in BLAST Premier Groups
The Brazilian side will field two stand-ins at the event, including the strategic coach and an academy team member.
MIBR will be forced to use two stand-ins at BLAST Premier Fall Groups after Ricardo "boltz" Prass tested positive for COVID-19 and Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes suffered an injury due to a car accident.
As previously announced, the team will field one of their academy members, Breno "brnz4n" Poletto, instead of boltz, while Renato "nak" Nakano will step back onto the server to fill in for chelo after the 23-year-old was not cleared to travel following the accident.
"chelo isn't fully recovered to travel with us," Alessandro "Apoka" Marcucci explained in a video message. "He is getting better at home right now and going to physiotherapy. Chelo, we're hoping you get better soon because we want you back with us as soon as possible!"
The situation puts the Brazilian side in a tough spot in their upcoming campaign at BLAST Premier, where they had already been the biggest underdog as by far the lowest-ranked side in attendance (#48). Group B of the event will see MIBR face G2 first on Monday at 16:30 , with NIP and BIG being on the other side of the double-elimination bracket.
The stand-in stint will see nak play his first match in an official capacity since the end of 2020, when he left DETONA and decided to hang up his mouse to pursue a position as MIBR's strategic coach.
Despite that, the coach duo looked in good spirits when they spoke about nak's return onto the server. "I'm doing my best, of course, I'm not on the tier 1 level, but we'll try," the 34-year-old added. "Sometimes it works. Let's go. We're confident to play G2! We have no pressure."
MIBR will field the following roster in BLAST Premier Fall Group B:
