Liquid eliminate Evil Geniuses from BLAST Premier

Evil Geniuses will compete in the Showdown for the chance to reach BLAST Fall Final.

Liquid confidently took down Evil Geniuses after a 2-0 series, bouncing back from yesterday's defeat against Vitality. The North Americans will face Astralis on Saturday to decide who will secure a spot in the Fall Final and the chance to face Vitality for the top spot in Group A.

"It was a good easy win for us, as expected," said Liquid's coach Eric "adreN" Hoag in regards to their win against Evil Geniuses, who played with two stand-ins after Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte and Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz decided to sit out the event for personal reasons.

When talking about Liquid's preparation for the match, the American coach stated they focused more on themselves rather than on their opponents: "This match was more about ourselves, just making sure we don't have a bad mental state or breakdown."

NAF led the way on Mirage for Team Liquid

Evil Geniuses were not able to find success on their pick of Mirage, only taking five rounds on their T side despite an exemplary performance from Michał "MICHU" Müller. Liquid meanwhile executed a rock-solid defense with some great retakes on the B bombsite on their way to close the half 10-5.

Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's men were not looking to slow down. Liquid orchestrated a near-flawless T side which saw them drop only one round before securing the map 16-6.

The situation deteriorated even further on Vertigo for Evil Geniuses as they struggled to find their footing on the CT side, only being able to claim three rounds thanks to the heroics of Teodor "SPELLAN" Nikolov and Owen "oBo" Schlatter. Liquid cruised to a 12-3 half with Michael "Grim" Wince shining for the North Americans.

Evil Geniuses were able to put up a more competitive offense, winning a force buy and taking a further three rounds to make it 7-14, but it was too late to make a difference. Liquid managed to win the two necessary rounds to close the map 16-7, securing the series 2-0.

Seriously how the F do they still manage to compete in T1 csgo? I got the feeling that EG got some kinda bonus and is invited to every tournament because at that lvl of play they have for whole 2021 they‘re basically T3. They look way worse than Sinners, Entropiq, fck even Dignitas and all other T2-T3 teams. Tell me how do they still play on those stages?!
2021-09-18 11:19
2 replies
Sinners, Entropiq and Dignitas look better just because they are playing vs some tier 3-2 teams max. EG are still on top.. just wait for Brehze and Stanislaw to comeback they will prepare for blast groups showdown there you would see if you are actually saying the truth. GL for your dignitas I like them too :)

i really really hope EG is facing Dignitas on the upcoming LAN to see if I'm wrong or right. Wether Dignitas has a good day and finally f0rest on LAN again I hope he just destroys the server to show who's got the biggest balls :D

The body language of cerQ is really like watching a little child be mad about losing his lollipop. I wouldnt even let him near my team if I owned it. Get rid.

Bad headline. They compete in Blast Premier Fall Showdown, as clarified in the tag below the headline upon clickthrough. Should read from Blast Premier Fall Groups 2021.

Liquid players looking really strong individually lately, there is still pleny of work to be done but it's going in a right directon. Let's be honest, EG wouldn't be able to beat anyone in this tournament playing with daps, they need stan or new IGL back asap.
