fnatic Rising sign Banjo ahead of WePlay Academy League Season 2
The 17-year-old will fill the spot left open in the international squad following the departure of David "prosus" Hesse.
fnatic Rising have announced the signing of 17-year-old Finn Matias "Banjo" Kivistö, who is joining the team with sights set on the upcoming WePlay Academy League Season 2, which kicks off on September 28.
The newcomer has been brought on just two weeks after fnatic's youth team parted ways with prosus, the German 18-year-old who returned to his previous home, BIG Academy, after playing the WePlay Academy League's opening season with the international squad.
The Finnish youngster's first event on the HLTV database dates back to March of 2021, when he joined veterans Kimmo "BASiC" Fagerholm and Toni "STOVVE" Liukkonen in croveNt for Elisa Nordic Championship Finland.
Banjo then played with SAWO in April, once again alongside STOVVE, where he and his team managed to go all the way to the late stages of the first IEM Summer Open Qualifier bracket before falling in 9-16th place to forZe.
Banjo now sports a 1.06 rating for the past three months ahead of the upcoming WePlay Academy League, with only a handful of maps played in a second-place run at Tubecon Games Finnish Championship with NYYRIKKI in August.
