mousesports and BIG qualify for PGL Major Stockholm, OG out of contention
They didn't do much to help themselves in their own series, getting comfortably rolled over on Ancient and Mirage. FaZe, who still have a chance of making it to Stockholm, only had to work for it on the second half of Inferno, where an 11 round streak secured OG a glimmer of hope after an abysmal first half.
The boys in blue had multiple scenarios that would have seen them qualify for the Major, but losing to FaZe severely limited their options. That left them needing the 9-12th decider bracket to shake out in a very specific way, and BIG's victory ruined any possibility that it could happen.
MOUZ will be celebrating FaZe's success almost as much as Finn "karrigan" Andersen and co., as OG's loss means that mouz are now qualified for the Major. Due to the hefty RMR points total they already have to their name, MOUZ had several likely scenarios that would see them qualify. In the end, OG's inability to place higher than 10th has secured that all important Major berth.
With this result FaZe keep their hopes of making it to Stockholm alive, and they will need to beat BIG to place ninth overall at a minimum. If they do, they then need one of Fiend, Copenhagen Flames, ENCE, and Movistar Riders to finish eighth.
BIG came into this 9-12th decider bracket knowing that they simply needed to win one of their two series, and they got the job done against slight favourites Heroic. The nature of the victory will be promising for the German squad moving forward, considering they managed to steal away Heroic's map pick before brushing the Danes aside on their own.
