Heroic, Complexity and Dignitas all emerge victorious at BLAST Showdown

Complexity had to fight back from a map down against underdogs MIBR in the closest series of the day.

The first game of the day saw Heroic take on POGGERZ, and the result went much as expected, the Danes taking the series 2-0 on Mirage and Nuke. They move on to face Dignitas in the quarter-final on Friday.

POGGERZ made the maps much closer than many expected, getting to double figures on both, without really ever threatening to win either. Shuaib "D0cC" Ahmad did the majority of the heavy lifting for his team, posting an impressive 98 ADR across the series on his way to a 1.27 rating.

f0rest showed age is just a number with his performance against Fiend

As for Heroic it was Martin "stavn" Lund and Casper "cadiaN" Møller who led the way, with a 1.44 and 1.42 rating respectively.

For our second match we saw Dignitas taking on Fiend in a game that was tough to call either way; the last time the two sides met we saw two very close 16-13 wins for the Bulgarians, on Mirage and Nuke.

We got exactly the same maps once again for this series, but the reverse result, this time the Swedes taking both maps, 16-9 on Mirage and 16-13 on Nuke. This earns Dignitas a quarter-final spot against Heroic on Friday.

Dignitas will be particularly pleased with the way they recovered from a 13-2 deficit on Nuke, shutting out Fiend on the CT side with 14 straight rounds to romp to victory. Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg was the pick of the bunch in this series, the veteran rifler producing a vintage performance to guide his team to victory.

The final series of the day saw Complexity face MIBR, the Brazilians winning their pick of Ancient 16-11 before getting beaten on Nuke and Overpass, 16-12 and 16-9 respectively. Complexity will take on either OG or paiN in the quarter-finals on Friday.

It was an encouraging performance for an MIBR team who have just recently acquired two new players, AWPer Adriano "WOOD7" Cerato in particular impressing with some excellent clutches. As for Complexity, it was Benjamin "blameF" Bremer and Justin "jks" Savage who were far ahead at the top of the scoreboard across the series.

I don't bet brother. My point of that comment was because team like Heroic who is ESL Pro League Champion mustn't lose more than 10 rounds in BO3 versus players like Lobanjica, SpawnZz, Oscar, Kod9z but they lost 21 which is desperate. About coL., just compare their firepower with mibr's one, and if u watched whole match u got answer sure. Picking coldzera was depressive move, this team wont last long for sure

Godd for you I didnt watch col vs mibr, so i cant comment on that. On heroic, i think they lose much of their rounds on ct side, in which they cant predict what poggers gonna do, unlike other tier 1 teams. But on t side, many times they did flawless execute and rushes, showing their worth as tier 1.

"which they cant predict what poggers gonna" haloo, Heroic is t1 team they must be ready for everything if we look at their trophies & experience. If Poggerz damaged them so hard, can't imagine what will Dignitas do

Right but there’s practically no demos of POGGERZ playing, so Heroic had no idea what their tendencies are. From what I see, POGGERZ have played virtually no matches, other than the Blast Qualifier, where nawwk was AWPing instead of Oscar. As for complexity, that team needs time. The roster move is still recent, but if jks can play like he did today, that team would be very interesting to watch instead of like watching BIG nowadays, don’t know if BIG Clan or BUG Clan is showing up in game.

Part of match prep is studying the opponent tendency and playstyle. In case if poggers there is nothing to study. Heroic is typical mindplay heavy team. Well they should be bcs their lineup talent, not bcs theyre lacking talent, but pound per pound they cant compete against the like of gambit or navi in terms of talent. They compensate this by their excellent read and antistrat. Guess from where they devise those antistrat? So far they done well against tier 1, but against nonamer its only logical for things to get much harder for them. Towards the end they chose rushing site bcs no use doing default against team with shallow strat and their rushes is superior anyway. And more organized. In the end, i dont care whether they won or not, it wont affect me in any way. But if its important to you my friend, I guess i have no say on that. Good day.

On nuke for example, if they had won one pistol they would close the game 2x0, just one example of many. They were the best team on full buy rounds.

Heroic showing some potential again, good win for them, they've been a little bit out of form lately. You think that coL struggle vs MIBR, but I would say that it's more MIBR playing some really nice CS rather than coL doing bad, I still think this roster has some potential aswell. DIG showing some life in them makes me really happy, but I really do feel that friberg is holding this team back, I love him, everyone does, but his performance is just really unacceptable for me :(
