FPX part ways with Devilwalk, peca

The coach and General Manager have exited the Chinese organization after a streak of poor results.

FunPlus Phoenix announced on Monday that they parted ways with coach Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg under mutual agreement, which followed shortly after General Manager Petar "peca" Marković revealed on Twitter that his time with the organization has come to an end.

The managerial changes follow a couple of underwhelming months for FunPlus Phoenix. Jesse "zehN" Linjala and co. missed out on a spot at the CS:GO Major in Stockholm, failed to qualify for premier events such as IEM Cologne and ESL Pro League, and crashed out of the top 30 of the world rankings in the leadup to these changes.

Devilwalk has been with the team since the NoChance era in 2019

Both Devilwalk and peca have expressed their intention to continue with their roles in new teams. The Serbian, who also managed FunPlus Phoenix's Valorant division, said that "after an exciting year, it's time for me to chase new endeavors," while the Swedish Major winner stated that he is open to offers in CS:GO or Valorant.

FunPlus Phoenix's international roster is currently competing in the IEM Winter 2021 Europe Closed Qualifier with the hopes of earning a spot at the $250,000 event in December, which could give them something to fill their otherwise empty calendar with, as well as offer a chance to climb back up the ranks.

FunPlus Phoenix are now:

Finland Jesse "zehN" Linjala
Slovakia Martin "STYKO" Styk
Montenegro Pavle "Maden" Bošković
Denmark Asger "Farlig" Jensen
Serbia Luka "emi" Vuković

How do you know he's a bad IGL? Have you seen him call? Have you seen him prepare for matches? Also flair and name doesn't check out.

It doesn't look like a problem with tactics. The individuals are really not consistent. You can see almost every FPX player Top frag in one map and then bottom frag in the next.

which looks like not the right choices/calls and maybe positions. imo they played way better with chrisj as igl

they did. I still don't understand why they didn't just drop the money to sign chrisj and instead went with emi who has literally no experience in tier 1 and already had a stint as a coach.

But chrisj was too creedy and missed great chance with this team. IMO they would have been top 15 certainly and probably even top 10 as team.

well it wasnt really up to chris to decide. Fpx could not agree with mousesports regarding the buyout. what mouz wanted was too much for fpx, so they rather choose to not make it to the major ;)

Do you see how bad is farlig they are all bad tactics are good
2021-10-18 17:52
well he have to be calling out of his mind if its gonna be worth it for his lacking fragging and I doubt he does that.
2021-10-18 16:17
He is not a bad IGL. He is okay-ish IGL. Farlig is an okay-ish awper, and same goes for the whole team. They are okay-ish team with current lineup. And their placing right now is realistic, 40 to 30 is what they deserve

doesnt matter, it was him, krystal and devilwalk who made the team and they were removed which was a shitty thing. they havent been competetive since maikelele was removed. he was a perfect fit as a passive awper which allowed the riflers to excel. work ethic is irrelevant

To be honest Maikelele was a good decision. I remember that styko or krystal said that he isn't feeling comfortable awping on certian maps and he was medicore against t2 competition at best. After adding farlig the team improved and they could become a top 10 team imo. Removing krystal was also understandable but what really fucked them up was not getting a better igl and being stuck with emi

i guess we just have to disagree. i followed the team since its inception when scream and maikelele started playing together again, and literally watched every game i could since. stopped watching them since krystal was removed as i lost my affiliation with them, so i feel as my opinion is the one more though out, however ur allowed to have ur own opinion.

hltv.org/stats/teams/events/6902/godsent I just looked at their finishes again and I guess the godsent prior to the Maikelele change wasn't that bad. With farlig they got some pretty good finishes like cs summit 6 but they also bumped out of some t1 events last. I think that we can say that godsent didn't really improved overall but imo farlig>>>Maikelele EDIT: hltv.org/stats/players/compare/13300/far..

They were braindead on that move, there is no saving grace for them. Farlig & Maden have been inconsistent for a while now, zehN is no longer hard carrying them (he was popping off like every single match), STYKO is average most of their matches but that's only 2 players out of 5. STYKO is the only consistent guy.
