sjuush: "We knew that we could play well on LAN, we just had to show everyone that we could"

The Dane took some time after Heroic's semi-final defeat in a barn burner against G2 to give us his thoughts on the team's run at the Major.

Heroic were just one round away from becoming the first Major finalists after bringing a 6-13 deficit on Inferno, the Danish squad's decider map in the semi-final against G2, to a 15-14 lead. But the Danes weren't able to convert and were overwhelmed by a Nikola "NiKo" Kovač-powered squad that closed things out in overtime.

We met up with Rasmus "sjuush" Beck after he had some time to cool down from the intense action that had previously taken place on the Avicii Arena's stage in front of a packed house and picked his brain on the team's performance in the dying embers of the G2 match, as well as the general atmosphere in Heroic after their Major run came to an end.

Regarding what could have been, sjuush says he hoped for a final against NAVI if he and his teammates could have just closed out that one final round on Inferno. "I felt like we could always beat NAVI, when we played them we lost to ourselves, not to them being good."

The 22-year-old also spoke of the importance of Heroic showing up on LAN, something many were doubting before the start of the Major, stating that "we can be proud of what we’ve done, top 4 at a Major, when we didn’t play so well online before."

At the same time you have navi players happily playing with a previously banned player = simple, who not only cheated and got banned for it but also lied about it claiming it to be a 1.6 ban and tried to ban evade even lmfao.

S1mple had an ESL ban for cheating when he was 18. Cadian is 26 and he's involved in this, and he went unpunished.

You're saying that you're not responsible for your own actions at 18 YO ???? S1mple was a pro player at the time he was cheating, meanwhile cadians coach used an in game bug and you pretend that's worse than a player actively downloading a third party software to cheat??? On top of that simple have had 2 former coaches in navi abuse the bug, but just a coincidence ofc lol
2021-11-07 12:40
12 replies
You're responsible for your own actions at 18, but that doesn't make you a grown man, you're still likely to make dumb mistakes at that age. Cadian's coach used a bug which is basically impossible to use without the players knowing or becoming suspicious, then he and the Heroic guys used every manipulation tactic in the book to say ''yeah we knew, but you should feel sorry for us'', along with crying and using niko's mental illness. Dude is close to 30 and doing this, it's pathetic bro.
2021-11-07 12:50

Holy shit the mental gymnastics.... it's okay cause you're more likely to make dumb mistakes when your 18 years old ????? LMFAO what the fuck. At 18 year old you should be considered an adult, unless you have some sort of brain damage. Also funny that you imply it would be impossible for the coach to use without the players knowing when s1mple had 2 of his former coaches be caught abusing the bug as well (andi and starix) ????
2021-11-07 12:53
8 replies
The thing is, you're dragging S1mple's case from 2015 in the conversation to justify Heroic's case from last year. How are you calling me out for mental gymnastics when you're literally doing that? I don't condone what S1mple did and he was banned for it for some time, the 3 Heroic players went unpunished. And if you don't see a difference between an 18YO making a mistake and a 26YO making the same mistake you're blinded by your bias
2021-11-07 12:59
7 replies
So now it's a question about when the cheating happened? And how does that correlate with the fact that navi themselves had coaches being caught bug abusing? Regardless, implying that Sjuush or Refrezh arent "good people" because they are playing with 3 players who had a coach exploit a bug on 2 maps is insane
2021-11-07 13:10

I mean i get what you say, but in the end its infinitely dumb to bring up a 2015 case to a 2021 case, anyhow ppl should get chances to redeem themselves, and i'd say simple has done so, ANd i hope cadian and c/o get the oppurtunity aswell. If you want to sound more credible when argueing, dont go screaming ''SIMPLE SIMPLE'' as fast as someone says something bad about heroic, think of something clever instead!
2021-11-07 13:45
1 reply
You missed the entire point of why the conversation started then. The guy implied that Sjuush should be held accountable for playing with cadiaN, Teses and Stavn, despite Sjuush joining the team before Hunden made any of his accusations. Secondly i didnt only mention simples 2015 case but also the fact that navi themselves had coaches involved in the bug abuse. Lastly, i'm not saying people should incriminate simple or navi, i'm just saying trying to push Heroic or especially players like Sjuush and Refrezh under the bus makes no fking sense lol

lol that's a strech and a half, cheating when you're 18 years old or 24 years old doesn't fucking matter, doesn't change anything, doesn't make it more justified. I'd get it if he was 12-15, but not 18 lol. He was already playing on a semi-pro or pro level at the time too.

S1mple was in fact 15 when he got banned by ESL for cheating in March 2013. Later ban extension happened not because of cheating, but because he tried to play before his ban ended.

Their mappool against NaVi is ok but not great, probably Heroic can win Mirage, but on all the other maps it's just over, when they faced NaVi this major they even banned Nuke themselves and played Ancient which shows they don't feel confindent playing NaVi in a map inside NaVis comfort zone which is not very promising
