ropz nears FaZe move - Report

Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool and FaZe are reportedly close to inking a blockbuster transfer ahead of the 2022 season.

ropz is close to finalizing a move to FaZe, according to a report by 1pv.fr and Dexerto. Previous rumors had said that the Estonian had been contemplating a move to one of FaZe or G2, and it appears that he has now made his choice.

Although ropz's current contract with MOUZ doesn't run out until later in the first quarter of 2022, the report states that the German organization and FaZe are undergoing talks over an earlier transfer, which should be inked during the winter off-season.

Meanwhile, MOUZ are reportedly considering promoting one or more of the members from two-time WePlay Academy League champions MOUZ NXT.

FaZe could be getting a big boost in firepower soon

Should the deal be finalized, the Estonian lurker would replace Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer on the roster, marking an end to the Swede's long tenure with FaZe dating back to mid-2017. The 29-year-old veteran has been in and out of the team for the past three years as he repeatedly took time off from competing, with the latest stint lasting for six months.

A three-time top 20 player and a top 10 player of 2019 and 2020, ropz has been tipped to make a move to a bigger team for some time now. FaZe has always been at the forefront of candidates for his new home, not just due to their historic standing but also the connection to Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen, who played alongside the 21-year-old star in MOUZ for two years in 2019-2021.

Below is what FaZe's roster would look like with ropz instead of olofmeister:

Problem is, this is probably still not enough to be the top1. Since karrigan is on the rostar --> He is great IGL and tactician, but I would love to see him as a coach. Ropz changed the team after a long time. And I doubt if he choose Faze, he wont achieve anything big. But we will see :)

True, but he is also able to work with talents. I am sure he can teach it someone suitable for the role of IGL. He can also take some duties from IGL (tactics, analyzis, working with players individually) and give more time to practise to his IGL. And you're talking like Navi will remain there forever. After this major, they are looking more shaky. B1t is a little bit (A joke without noticing) less impactful and stuff like that. Faze lost really close game when olof was not that impacful. Ropz is maybe the x factor that faze need. And G2 will look so lost in the next 6 months. They have to rebuilt the team completely.

Doesnt matter if Navi will be on top. There will be someone and probably will be really good, cos CS:GO in these days is much more better than before. Olof was great last 2-3 months btw, but it doesnt matter. Brokys AWP consistency is a little bit better than Amanek, but far behind Zywoo, S1mple, shiro - and you have to have a really great AWP to compete on the top Rain is better again, but how long? karrigans biggest problem in mouse was his low stats, which was crucial in some games. He is decent now, but how long? Twistzz is the only relevant player on the roster for the future. Yes, FaZe can be brutal with Ropz and they can win some trophies, but its not perspective in my opinion. As well the organization is terrible (check Ynk on hltv confirmed) - pretty much no support for the teams needs, only good salaries. G2 is better option I think. Niko + hunter + monesy is a great trio to join = young and skilled. G2 as an org also better and more supportive. And who care they will set up the team one more year? NaVi had to struggle 2 years to finally have a little bit of era ;)

G2 competed on the top but wasnt able to win anything because inconsistent AWP (I like Amanek btw and I have a huge respect for him). FaZe will have the same issue. Broky is better in AWPing, but I feel its not enough to win tournaments at this moment. But we will see :) Maybe I am wrong!

Well it would grand them even more firepower and a player like ropz ( top 5 in my opinion on sheer skill/aim/gamesense ) is a nice addition to any team. But we all know it wouldn't be enough if they don't have proper roles and IGL. Superstars team have been failing times and times again until they had proper structure. No team ever had the firepower a NiKo huNter ropz mOnesy + last would have though, so who knows... But without a competent IGL I doubt it would work, as no one would want to play the " bitch " roles

agreed anyone who watches demo will notice brokyy and karrigan are the main nade support. Olof is always the lurker because of his experience. A better aimed lurker like Ropz is gonna be great addition especially with Karrigan helping the youngsters mid round. Coming to G2 makes no sense as their roster are shaking and Ropz will probably be like Sanji with Niko and Hunter in the roster

Why would he do the 'bitch roles' when he is basically a lot better than everyone not named NiKo on the team ? Also ropz is the best lurker/anchor in the world , and NiKo can play almost any role so they wouldn't have trouble fitting him if they wanted.

Do you really think the new comers will play all the favorable spots ? I'll be a waste of talent for niko, ropz or Hunter. Niko played awp pretty badly, never played support. He sometimes entries fragging, but not constantly. Niko is insane, no doubt about it, but there are limits to scretch his talents. A very good lurker will become a very average entry, etc.. Also, too many passive players doesn't work. I'm not even sure Monesy will get a lot of spaces. This team is really niko/hunter centric. I hope so, because that too will be a waste of talent. In Faze, it'll be the opposite, Ropz will get the freedom that he needs.

He is easily top 5, and should have been last year and maybe even the year before had he not be dragged down by an awful team. ropz is easily top 5 as far as skill/aim/consistency/gamesense go imo. Only players that I would put before him are the holy trinity ( Zywoo, s1 and NiKo ). I would have put device too up to last year, but not sure now. Everyone else is debatable, elec being his major contestant for #4-5 spot. We'll see how he does next year but he is easily top 10.

I don't know either. What I was getting at was that frozen would be a good replacement for rain IF faze were looking to replace him AND if frozen's contract were close running out (i.e faze wouldn't have to spend a fortune to get him). However, I don't think anyone expects rain to leave the team anytime soon so it's all just conjecture in the end

I believe this is an upgrade. A lot of people say that rain is useless, but I would give him some time as new roster changes are on the way. The reason rain doesn't perform sometimes is because of inconsistencies of the team. rain is heavily dependent on a good team atmosphere. rain is also a staple of faze, and not only that, works well with karrigan. imo, rain is going to be a hard on no other role entry frag, maybe a little bit of support with karrigan as the complete support player. Ropz I assume will be lurking, broky awping, and twistzz being another star.

If you watch them play, only player who is not acting like a sore loser is Olof. Rest are missing nade setups, wont clear corners, wont check backstabs or flanks, have almost zero gamesens like Broky who is getting caught with nade in hand or looking in wrong direction almost every map for couple times, they have no warmup routine thus they miss easy shots. All of this is unfixable with a roster change, they need to change their mentality and aproach of how to play competive cs.

could be a good decision, but still no loyality. 2 things can be true. :) there are people who stay loyal to the team that gave them every opportunity to make a career out of any profession they want to be in. at the end of they day, he himself is responsible for his success to a degree in mouz, ofc he needs mates, but its not like he played godlike the last couple of events. he could step up into a leader role, there are few ways to help the mates cuz they all got enough talent with frozen, bymas & co. but surely, these people get fewer and fewer who stick trough thick and thin.

How has he been loyal? He got the chance from mouz to play professionally and he got a new contract after establishing himself once which is running out early 2022 to these reports. He literally never had the chance to be loyal, yet. Being loyal means sticking to his team when things dont work out, when you actually have a chance to change teams or other offers. THEN you can be loyal and stick to your team. Fulfilling your contract isnt showing the highest levels loyality in my book, its common decency of adulthood. Now is the first chance to show loyality and he doesnt take it I guess. But not to be misunderstood, its his choice and he got the right to change teams after the contract ends or earlier if mouz/FaZe agree to something. No bad blood. My point of view is just disappointed cuz i like players who stick to 1 team for their career, tru good and bad times. I dont like that players get tru numerous teams, hunting better contracts and so on.

styko/suNny/oskar/ropz/chrisJ were top 10 easily, even went on to get to 4 finals back2back and win couple events like Pro League and stuff, before it call broke apart. When karrigan/woxic/frozen joined, they became top 10 aswell while peaking top 5 again. They 'only' dropped off/out of top 10 when COVID19 began and the team bonkers with woxic getting replaced first. They had decent events like Flashpoint with dexter/acoR aswell, but ever since COVID started in like April 2020, they havent looked as strong as usually.

Theres always a chance to get better with ur own team, not guaranteed that you will become the best obviously, but thats not guaranteed going to G2 or FaZe aswell. No guarantees. A championship for a player like Dirk is way more worth than the 2 rings KD won with the warriors if you get the reference. But youre not wrong as I said, just different opinions. :)

Should. Let's see if it actually does. There's also been a lot of coulda shoulda woulda been for FaZe in the past few years, actual outcome well-known. But still, ropz should go. There's no promising future in the current mouz roster, grander changes imminent. I hope that this transfer's gonna cause a full NXT promotion. Right now i think ropz will be a good player for Faze. Obviously he is better than olofmeister. Probably he will take some time to implement him in the team structure. Zero doubt that he will show his excellent skills in Faze as well. Given the current state of Faze I question though, what will happen if he realized how bad hos teammates are. Aint Rain supposedly some tier 1 goat player, but why does he never reach the same numbers as Ropz? You would assume he would since he gets all the rooms and had always better fragging teammates than Ropz.
