The North American organization have unveiled the fourth player of their 2022 roster with the addition of the French legend.

Liquid confirmed the signing of legendary French rifler, Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon, via the organisation's Twitter account. The news lands not long after the NA org also announced the signing of young American AWPer Josh "⁠oSee⁠" Ohm.

The move comes as no surprise, with the 29-year-old having been linked with a transfer to Liquid back in November after it became clear that Vitality would be signing the exiting Astralis trio of Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif, Peter "⁠dupreeh⁠" Rasmussen and Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen come the end of the year.

shox will play outside the French scene for the first time in his career

2021 was a mixed bag for shox, with his HLTV rating for the year the lowest in his time in CS:GO, but still posting impressive clutch numbers and achieving several top placings with Vitality, including a victory at IEM Winter.

The move continues the off-season rebuild that Liquid have been undertaking, having removed Michael "⁠Grim⁠" Wince, Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo and Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip from the active roster following an underwhelming year plagued by internal issues.

The Liquid roster now consists of:

Shox experience is great and his clutches are great, but naf and elige have plenty of experience and naf is already a good clutcher… floppy would just be more firepower. I can see both sides but i still think floppy would be a better move in the long run

I think everyone is forgetting floppy's foray into T1 CS with cloud9. He was given his desired roles and positions since he was supposed to be the "star" and performed terribly against all T1 opposition. It was Mezii and ALEX who accepted all the bitch work. Shox will be a much better addition than floppy could hope to be.

Theyre far from looking good. They have NAF and Elige which are great then Osee who is basically Junior 2.0 until proven in tier 1 and RUMOURED nitr0 who hasnt even played the game let alone kept up with the meta enough to IGL. This team has more chance of flopping than succeeding

Yeah but NAF and Elige are two of the best riflers of all time, and Nitro has already lead the two to a lot of big successes (granted they were a long time ago) Osee is unproven but so good at T2 that he will still be decent in T1 even if he falls off slightly at the beginning. This isn’t the best roster ever ofc, but a 29yo who hasn’t been playing outstanding CS either really can’t complain about getting this offer

Where else could shox go though? Liquid will pay him a lot. He could stay in french scene for like 10% the salary, not worth it with 29 when he was still competing at S tier events and making deep runs with vitality. He can do that in 1-3 years

From what I understand Thooorin has said elige is very difficult to work with. He likes quiet people that do what he wants and is very passive aggressive. Stew is very vocal and im guessing elige didnt like that. Look at the names they have signed. If nitr0 can find his prime form again and Shox will be Liquid's "weakest link", then motivated shoxie finding his true form would probably make Liquid top5. But that's just wishful thinking, the chances of it happening are really slim. Regardless, I am excited about this new Liquid team, as it brings some fresh, revitalizing air to the NA scene, when EG is also forming a new team on it's own. I really look forward to the NA scene now, as a viewer.

It is probably 1 year contract. I dont agree with you. Vitality was in top5 for almost 9 months. He is a good midcaller and still a good clutcher. It is probably his last year, so he probably wants to leave with good impressions. He is not at his prime, but he is not washed up.

Be in mind that the biggest part of his career was playing with french rosters. There's a lot of things going on that aren't making this deal look promising at all. There's even the nitr0 factor, dude's been playing valo for a year now and is brought back this way? To compete in a international level again as an IGL? I might be sounding harsh right now, but Liquid is probably the closest to somewhat of a big deal NA currently has. We need something potent enough to beat CIS, and I don't see this happening with shox and nitr0 together. There's a chance I might be very wrong tho. Hopefully that's the case.

At the same time, you talk about struggle. Brehze, cerq, valde and automatic are struggling and had a ruff year. In terms of form, liquid is one step ahead. Everyone on eg had a ruff year or are rusty as fuck. You cannot really compare stats of shox who play only against top10. Look how much stewie collapse against top10 team. If everyone is on point, eg look promising, but it easy said than done. Both teams will need adjustment. Shox and naf, automatic of 2018 vs automatic of geng. Elige will probably change to an entry fragger since he watches a lot of yekindar povs.

He's an super good hybrid player,who can play aII the roIes , he's super smart. He used to be igl and should be second caIIer with nitro. The team aIready has 3 great fraggers (EIige, Naf, osee); they bring here a great cIutcher, smart player who can improve the strategical part of tl. I don't see what value does he bring to the team tbh. Firepower? Not really, he is average, sometimes even less than that. He defienietly isn't a good material for a support player, maybe he will change his playing style but I doubt it, he is usually very passive which can create role clashes with NAF, he is also just old and probably going to only get worse. So what does he really bring? Experience? At this point NAF and EliGE are very experienced players and I don't think he is needed, I don't like this signing by TL but I hope it will work out. probably a change of air, better mood, attitude and his experience. Elige is known for being a mood killer, so maybe someone like shox can fix that. the only huge problem with this team is that the fifth player is going to be nitr0, which is a completely worthless player, oSee has the Awp now, his igl is okay but he cant put numbers, lacks firepower and on top he comes back from valorant. Like even a crazy idea, give Shox igl on this clusterfuck, sign a good rifler instead of nitr0 and maybe this is an interesting team.

nitr0 was a decent IGL when he was playing CS, if that didn't change then I think it's a decent pickup, I mean every team needs a decent leader, ofc. he won't bring firepower to the team but cmon that shouldn't be the problem, the trio of EliGE, NAF nad oSee already seems like enough firepower. I don't agree with giving shox IGLing, he never really was a good leader, and the times he tried it he was playing better but the team didn't, I think it would be a really bad idea.

I think shox will pay off great on Liquid tbh. He is still good. Still can clutch, still have a great aim, he will give a lot of positive Input to the team with nitr0 and adreN,meanwhile NAF elige and osee all do the hard fragging.
