trace takes over as Astralis Talent coach

The former ECSTATIC coach and Danish legend joins the organization ahead of the start of WePlay Academy League's third season.

Astralis has announced the signing of Martin "trace" Heldt, who will take over as the head coach of their academy lineup, Astralis Talent. In the position, the 31-year-old has replaced Dennis "vnG" Vang, who will be staying with the team in the coming months to help with the transition.

The former mTw legend joined Astralis Talent just hours ahead of the start of the WePlay Academy League. The Danes are part of a strong-looking Group A, featuring four other finalists from the previous two seasons. The first match will pit them against Young Ninjas, on Monday at 17:00 .

The Dane's addition comes as what the organization calls the next step in further strengthening the infrastructure of the talent division, which also included full-time contracts for the players.

trace found a new home after leaving ECSTATIC last month

"Everybody knows who Astralis is and what they stand for," trace said in a statement.

"In that way, it is a no-brainer for most to say yes, but for me, it is just as much about the fact that there is a potential, a plan, and clear ambitions for the team I am to lead, both in regards to the overall structures, the development of the team and individual players, but also when it comes to tournament performance."

trace has quickly found a new home after parting ways with ECSTATIC in early December despite a successful partnership with the organization previously known as Lyngby Vikings, who advanced through the ranks from 40th to 20th place with the Dane behind them.

"By bringing Lyngby (now Ecstatic) all the way to number 21 in the world, Martin has already proven his capabilities as a coach," Astralis' Director of Sports, Kasper Hvidt, said.

"We share a common view on culture, performance, and dedication. I am convinced, together with Martin, we will see our Counter-Strike Talents grow and reap the fruits of the work that has already been done while also developing the set-up team and individual players."

Astralis Talent are:

Denmark Frederik "Fessor" Sørensen
Denmark Victor "vigg0" Bisgaard
Denmark Benjamin "brzer" Jensen
Denmark Mikkel "MistR" Thomsen

honestly apart from Fessor this team is pure trash, look at mouz NXT or NaVi Junior if you wanna see how Talent scouting is done. Dunno if he will have any influence on how the roster should look from now on. Now Astralis has/had 3 mTw players as coaches Pog
