tarik departs Evil Geniuses

The American is out of the organization following eight months on the bench.

Evil Geniuses have announced that Tarik "tarik" Celik is no longer a part of the organization, bringing to an end the cooperation that lasted over two years. The 25-year-old player joined Evil Geniuses in 2019 when the former NRG lineup was acquired and won five titles with the squad before stepping down in April of 2021.

tarik won five titles with EG, including IEM New York

tarik's journey with Evil Geniuses started with a bang as the North American lineup lifted the ESL One New York 2019 trophy on home soil before going to win StarSeries i-League Season 8 a month later, reaching the No. 1 spot in the world ranking off the back of it.

The team's form dropped off in the first half of 2020 only for a resurgence to follow in the summer as they won the North American BLAST Premier Spring, cs_summit 6, and ESL One Cologne tournaments during the online era.

The struggles that followed for Evil Geniuses and tarik were hard to foresee, the once-elite team dropped out of the top 10 by the start of 2021 and chained early tournament exits that led to tarik's departure in April.

While the "Content King" focused on streaming for the past eight months, the team continued to underperform, leading to a massive overhaul that has started with the signing of former G2 tactician Damien "maLeK" Marcel as the new head coach.

He’s sad many times on stream he’s been offered positions on T1 Valo teams, so I would guess not but who knows
2022-01-04 21:33
Stream for a few more years while fading into irrelevance, probably. Would love to see him return but he doesn’t seem to have as much passion for cs and would rather play other games like valulrant

What made ninja drop off was the mixer thing + fortnite not being as popular. As people lost interest in Fortnite they also lost interest in ninja.

Yeah, have you heard of Shroud? He went to mixer, came back and averages tens of thousands of views. Ninja blew up due to fortnite. The only reason anyone watched him was fortnite. Do you see anyone over the age of 12 liking Ninja? No? As kids lost interest in fortnire, and as the man stopped playing it. He gradually had fewer and fewer viewers.

Tarik is wayyyyy funnier than Ninja is. Not a great comparison.
2022-01-04 23:02
Ninja is one of the most unlikeable and annoying human beings in existence. There's no chance he would ever be popular with adults and non-fortnite players.

He did say if he were gonna go pro again it would be in CS. I think the reason he streams a lot of Val because in NA. It’s the trendy game to play if you’re a streamer. Remember when Fortnite was the trend game to play one time. He just has a big following with all the kids who watch Valorant now. The Fortnite gen, it’s just easy money and subs.

He says he's enjoying streaming for now, and he's gonna continue doing that until its getting boring. If and once he's done streaming full time he would probably go pro in Valorant. He said on stream that he has offers from val orgs but wants to stream for now.
2022-01-04 19:46
he has said he wants to continue streaming for now, that it feels better than playing competitive valorant for example, plus it's easier money since he has been averaging good numbers on his streams

VALORANT :(
2022-01-05 03:40
stupid by him to switch to valorant where EU and SEA dominates in that game i think from last CHAMPIONS. NA valorant is going downhill compare to CS where they just beat NAVI before disband LUL

Tarik seems to be really enjoying Valorant though. He's always been a streamer and I don't think he'd be interested in grinding CS on a tactical level for hours and hours anymore. All the best to Tarik. Hope for more great content <3

I don't watch vaLULrant but he is still content king even on vaLULrant, funny af
