The Dutch AWPer is released from the team after being with the organisation since 2013.

It was announced today via the MOUZ Twitter account that, after over eight years with the organisation, Chris "⁠chrisJ⁠" de Jong is free to find himself a new team.

The news comes not long after it was announced that Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool would be departing for FaZe, and that Ádám "⁠torzsi⁠" Torzsás was being promoted from the academy team. The team also recently parted ways with coach Torbjørn "⁠mithR⁠" Nyborg.

chrisJ was by far the longest standing member of MOUZ

chrisJ leaves having been a part of multiple iterations of the MOUZ roster, winning eight trophies with the organisation. The highlights include an ESL Pro League Season 10 victory, where they took down then world number one team Astralis in the semi-finals, and an impressive 1.29 rated +55 KD-diff performance in a run to 2nd place at ESL One Belo Horizonte 2018. He represented the organisation at 10 Majors across his career.

Most recently, he was benched at the end of 2020 after virtually 9 straight months of sub-1.00 HLTV rated events. Since his benching he briefly trialled for FunPlus Phoenix, but ultimately did not sign for the team, and stood in for MOUZ at DreamHack Open November in place of Aurimas "⁠Bymas⁠" Pipiras.

This leaves one spot still open on the active MOUZ roster, with the German organisation reportedly in advanced talks with French legend Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt to fill that vacancy.

Thats not true at all. Some Just cheer for him due to his past Moments, where he was without a doubt the best SSG Player and top 5 Awper

the point is that chrisj in his "good" years was able to pull of masterclass plays out of nowhere more often. the last ~2 years were rough for him and he didn´t play very well. i believe that if he finds a new team and gets motivated again he will easily be able to be a t1 player again, even considering his age and performance in the recent years

I think he was far more inconsistent than you remember but maybe he could be a tier 1 player if his IGL’ing is good. I don’t think any tier 1 team can rely on him individually anymore.

i never said that chris was a consistent player, he always had his ups and downs but overall he was a really good player mouz could rely on until his decline began a few years ago. i agree with you, that he isnt a indivial performer (anymore) but i still believe that his experience will benefit him a lot if he comes back to t1 cs. i also agree that he will only be IGL and not an sniper anymore, there are just too many better indiviuals in t1 by now

i think he would actually be a good igl, he spent all that time with karrigan and hes already a veteran, when he was igl of fpx for a short time they literally won a tournament and looked better than ever

True but since FPX fell apart, who would be interested in signing him now (not even taking the antivaxJ situation into account). Even if he leads well, he played very bad before being benched and terrible in his stand-in game recently. I think coaching is his most realistic option
