Funspark ULTI Finals revealed with Gambit, Astralis & more

With top-10 teams such as Gambit, Astralis and Entropiq in attendance, the event promises to be a competitive one to kickstart the year.

The full details of the Funspark ULTI Finals have been announced, including the team list and schedule; the event will feature eight teams battling through a double elimination best-of-three bracket, with a best-of-three grand final, for a share of an impressive $250,000 prize pool. The event will take place online in Europe.

This is the first finals event for the Champion of Champions Tour, which includes events such as Home Sweet Home, Pinnacle Cup, Elisa, and Malta Vibes.

Gambit will be the highest ranked team in attendance

The games will take place between January 18-24, with two matches played per day, one at 12:00 and one at 15:00 . Commentators Harry "JustHarry" Russell and Hugo Byron will be tasked with bringing the action from every single game to life, with Alex "Mauisnake" Ellenberg and Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović handling analysis duties. The on-air team will be broadcasting live from Relog Media headquarters in Serbia.

The team list features the top finishers at the Funspark ULTI 2020 Europe event, BIG and Extra Salt, ECSTATIC and K23 from the Funspark 2021 EU ranking, and is rounded out by invites in the form of Gambit, Astralis, Entropiq and fnatic.

cuz they feel and know that they are lucky online tier2 team GamBOT
2022-01-13 16:48
I think thats a good thing for them, theyll get into the feel of the game sooner than the other teams who will have the 1st official on blast. Id guess this will make things smoother than playing blast right after 1 and half month break

MVP for HLTV rankings. You need like 2-3 top teams at the event for it to count

Fair, although if they get signed by CoL do we know that CoL would get a spot in this tournament? Like if ES can't field a roster for the tournament, Funspark would probably just give their spot to the org with the next-best finish at the 2020 EU finals which would be ForZe

I do see what you mean, I don't know how often Tournament organizers do that kind of thing since it seems like they often have relationships with orgs, but not necessarily with players. But I hope you're right TBH because old ES/new CoL is a fun roster.

yep just saw the HLTV article as well. This is a good outcome, in that these guys get a chance at a T1 tournament right off the bat. Especially considering we don't even know if ES will be able to field a full roster after CoL theoretically picks them up Granted, they won't be ready to hang with Gambit and Astralis, but who knows

One of the teams is the runner-up from last year, two are the ones who earned their places through playing in Funspark tournaments regularly, all the others are in the top 20, what exactly do you want

Mauisnake is a really bad analyst, he does a lot of mistakes in his analysis and sadly the other guys aren't correcting him.
