Official: Complexity sign Extra Salt roster with Grim, junior

The team will debut for the organization on Wednesday in the Funspark ULTI Finals.

Complexity have announced the signing of Johnny "JT" Theodosiou, Justin "FaNg" Coakley, Ricky "floppy" Kemery, and coach Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen from Extra Salt, and simultaneously completed the transfer of Michael "Grim" Wince and Paytyn "junior" Johnson from Liquid and FURIA, respectively, to create their lineup for 2022.

The announcement confirms a December report from HLTV.org that indicated the above roster had become the frontrunner to be signed by the Dallas-based organization after a deal with Copenhagen Flames fell through.

Grim will play against Gambit in his first match for Complexity

"Early on in our off season it became clear that we would be moving towards a full rebuild of the CS:GO roster as our old team went their separate ways," Graham Pitt, Complexity's CS:GO General Manager told HLTV.org.

"We had many different projects and possibilities on the table from across the globe to consider and we took our time to figure out what direction we wanted to take for the next roster.

"With the core of JT, FaNg and floppy complimented by two experienced pieces in Grim and junior, we not only found a roster with great chemistry together, but also a perfect fit for Complexity to return fully to North America. All of the players are still very much in the early phases of their careers, aged 19-22, so we forsaw a great future ahead of them where they will compete for titles regionally and internationally.

"Counter-Strike in NA took a real beating over the past few years and there was definitely a desire to return to Complexity's roots as a major player in the region if we could find a suitable roster.

"It's good to remember that previous roster was meant to be based in NA, but obviously complications with the pandemic meant it wasn't a viable option for the past few years. So this isn't really a change in direction as much as it is a re-confirmation of Complexity's dedication and love of North American CS."

The move to Complexity offers the players consistent opportunities to compete in top tournaments as the organization is both a BLAST partner and a Louvre Agreement team. However, the core of the lineup will first have to recover from the loss of Josh "oSee" Ohm to Liquid, which came as a heavy blow at the end of the year.

The lineup have a difficult debut ahead of them as they are set to take on Gambit in their opening match for Funspark ULTI Finals at 15:00 on Wednesday, a match that will give us a first glimpse at how the team fares with their new additions.

Complexity are now:

South Africa Johnny "JT" Theodosiou
Canada Justin "FaNg" Coakley
United States Ricky "floppy" Kemery
United States Paytyn "junior" Johnson
United States Michael "Grim" Wince

JKS hasn't had the opportunities, He joined a broken Complexity where he had to play bitch roles and get baited by BlameF every round (And Coldzera later on) JKS going 28-4 vs Vitality with a 2.50 rating at IEM Beijing 2019 LAN is a lot more impressive How young are you? 1 year isn't that long (Unless you're a child i suppose)

I mean he had 1.16 (with 1.12 vs top 5 and top 10) through 2020 while on 100T. Then swapped to a support role in CoL and played decently at it. You can't really compare his stats on CoL because he was playing the exact same role as someone like Perfecto or Interz

Complexity staying NA centric is GOOD NEWS, they almost went full Danish... Luckily the CF gang were too greedy to get signed. Hope for the best for these guys and lots of love to Jason to sticking with CSGO despite the fuckin bullshit he's been putting up with in this space.

He’s not bad, good player but I think complexity roster was a team just waiting to fail. Too many roles clash. Cold, blame, and jks All play the same roles. Least he’s still getting paid on the bench.

tasty roster i repeat myself but this roster - on paper - is 100000 times better than EG and at least on par with Liquid, great deal IMO
2022-01-18 19:47
Nice!
2022-01-18 19:49
It's so nice to see coL back to having an American core. I know this roster can do great things. How far they go solely depends on how badly they want it.

very good hiring! now -Fang +oBo and COL will have the last 4 young stars of the NA scene together with a consistent IGL! could be leaf too, if he came back from valorant.

He is a good IGL and player, great understanding of the game. He has played with floppy and been coached under T.c. since the ATK days, I don't see him leaving.
