Gambit defeat Entropiq 2-0 in Russian grand final to be crowned Funspark ULTI champions

Gambit picked up right where they left off before the winter break, showing great form to win their first event of the year undefeated.

Gambit won the FunSpark ULTI 2021 Finals after taking out Entropiq in the tournament’s best-of-three grand final which pitted the two Russian teams against each other for the second time since the tournament’s start. It was also a replay of last year’s V4 Future Sports Festival grand final, which was played on LAN with Konstantin "groove" Pikiner’s men going on to lift the trophy.

The first time the two teams met in the FunSpark ULTI Finals was in the second upper bracket round after Gambit beat Complexity and Entropiq knocked ECSTATIC down to the lower bracket, with Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov and company winning two out of the three maps played on that ocasion comfortably to remain on the upper bracket.

sh1ro had his first MVP showing of 2022 in Gambit’s championship run

Some of the biggest names in the tournament were the other two teams sent to the lower bracket in the first round, namely Astralis and fnatic, with the Danes taking the Swedes out before being eliminated themselves at the hands of Entropiq whose Aleksei "El1an" Gusev was the deciding factor in the third map with a 1.94 rating and 37 frags in 29 rounds.

Dmitry "hooch" Bogdanov’s men continued through the lower bracket against ECSTATIC and BIG, making it past the Germans in the consolidation final on the same day as the grand final, which they played with only an hour break between matches. Despite the win the consolidation series was no walk in the park, as El1an and company brought the satch back from the brink of elimination on Nuke, turning a 4-11 deficit at the half into a 16-14 victory with a solid CT showing.

groove’s men once again came out on top in a grand final against Entropiq

Gambit hit the ground running in the grand final, taking it to Entropiq on their map pick by wearing down their countrymen early on and securing 9-6 half as Terrorists before stealing a 3vs5 retake in the second pistol round to hit double digits. From there on out it was Abay "HObbit" Khasenov and company who dominated, securing the map 16-7.

Entropiq didn’t let up despite losing the pistol round as CTs on Dust2, going on a five round streak to make it 5-2 before Gambit were able to fight back, regaining the lead 6-5 in what ended up being a close half that went the way of their rivals, 6-9. Doubles by El1an and Aleksei "NickelBack" Trofimov secured the second pistol round for the attacking team, but once again on the defense Gambit locked the map down 16-12 to claim the title undefeated.

how is getting early practice and money bad?
2022-01-24 19:45
Yeah. Should have not played anything since they're not Blast partner team! How dare they not to chill and play nothing until next ESL!
2022-01-24 20:43
Come on man, 3 teams from top 10, 6 from top 20. That's tier 1.5 event at minimum.

Gambit had to play only 1 of the other 2 top 10 teams, and it’s arguable if they’re even top 10. Entropiq are good but I’d say 11-15 worthy good

Elimination format did not require Gambit to play against all teams. Entropiq is top 10 team, that's a fact whether you think they are worthy or not.

Is it even possible at this point? They have 12/12 partner teams. Or maybe they can buy slot from someone.

Idk if it's possible. The whole partner teams shit sucks, but ofc there is no time for a full open circuit for every S tier tournament...

Gambit got a lot of BLAST points, It doesn't make sense for them to buy a BLAST partnership when they can easily be invited just because of how many points they have.

They'll only get invited to Blast Showdowns

Yeah, I think so too smart brain from Gambit CEO.
2022-01-24 20:43
So they will miss only 2 events - fall/spring groups.
2022-01-24 21:25

so they have the potential to miss out on 2 of the qualifier events for the world final, and potentially points for their hltv ranking as well
2022-01-24 21:35
They could have 16 teams with 4 groups i guess but they're not doing it
2022-01-24 20:42
they'll probably grind their way through blast spring showdown to play in Spring Finals if they get invited. I don't see any reason why Blast wouldn't give it to them.
2022-01-24 20:03
It is good that there are tourneys like that and V4.

Would be nice seeing Gambit perform this good at LAN too, they dominated Online part of 2021 then not so good when they got to the LAN tournaments. Not saying anyone cheating, just abit sad to see.
