Vitality cruise past MIBR

Vitality set up an exciting matchup with G2 by beating MIBR to send them to the Last Chance stage.

Vitality continued their good start with the Franco-Danish project by beating MIBR 2-0 on Dust2 and Inferno. The Brazilians looked good in flashes, but were generally outclassed by their opponents.

This result sets up a mouth-watering clash between Vitality and G2 in round 3, which will take place Saturday at 13:00 . Their loss sends MIBR to the Last Chance stage, where they will await the loser of the aforementioned game between Vitality and G2.

ZywOo was at his imperious best in this series

In an interview after the game, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen spoke about the way he and Emil "Magisk" Reif have had to adjust to fit the new project:

"I think we have taken maybe 75% of their playbook and then added 25% of Astralis to that. Obviously it is all about the in-game leader as well, apEX is a different IGL than gla1ve was, and the philosophy and how they see the game and how to approach it is obviously different, so it's also kind of a new playstyle that we have to get in to. It will take time to shape it the way we want to, it's been fun so far, but there have also been some complications that we need to leave behind from Astralis."

The series opened on Dust2, which was the pick of the Brazilians. MIBR started on the T side and started poorly, losing the pistol and falling to a 1-7 deficit, both the faster paced pushes and slower defaults getting picked apart by Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut.

Once the Frenchmen's star AWPer slowed down MIBR began to take advantage of some overzealous play by Vitality, winning five of the remaining seven rounds to go into the second half 6-9 down.

The Brazilians won their CT pistol and converted the next few rounds to get to a 10-9 lead before Vitality got rolling on their offense; once they did the Frenchmen didn't look back, winning seven rounds on the bounce to take the first map comfortably.

Whilst MIBR looked well drilled in the back half of their T side they were simply out of their depth when they switched to the defence, struggling to deal with the entry power Vitality wielded.

Vitality's pick was Inferno, and the Frenchmen set about justifying their pick right from the off. Starting on the T side the boys in black and yellow immediately displayed the gulf in pedigree between the teams, finding success on both bombsites and rarely failing to get the bomb down.

MIBR managed to pick up a few scattered rounds to prevent a blowout, largely due to Breno "brnz4n" Poletto finding success defending banana, but still went down 4-11 in the half.

After winning the pistol and converting to put themselves on 13 the second half was never in doubt for Vitality, and they quickly closed out the map 16-5. As per usual ZywOo topped the scoreboard for Vitality, whilst it was brnz4n who was putting up the best resistance for the Brazilians.

In a BO1, I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. Not to discredit MIBR, but we saw a lot of upsets in bo1. Doesn't mean the team could beat them again in a bo3.

All the people saying MiBR could win because they beat the worst looking Navi we've seen in a Bo1 and scraped past coL... The Americas looking rough right now.

I gave up on MIBR ever since they got rid of Fer, Fallen, and Taco. Then when they got rid the old 00 Nation team after a good performance. Wasn't expecting them to ever be decent or good again. Now here comes their new squad, and I've got to admit, they are fun to watch. Great opening power on rounds and their aim is pretty nice. a few mistakes here and there, but i see them growing to the same level as Godsent soon. This is my honest thoughts
2022-02-04 18:31
vitality win the shuffle?

better team win in the end :)
