NAVI exact revenge on NIP to qualify for BLAST Premier Spring Final

The world no. 1 team got the job done despite not playing up to their end-of-2021 form.

Natus Vincere have joined Vitality, G2, FaZe, and OG as teams that have secured their spots at the $425,000 BLAST Premier Spring Final in June after defeating NIP 2-0 in the last-chance match.

The CIS side showed weakness throughout the tournament, losing BO1 matches to MIBR and Astralis in the first week and a BO3 to NIP in the second one, but performed well in the crucial matches. When elimination was on the line in games against Liquid and the rematch versus NIP, Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and co. took 2-0 victories and ultimately did what they had to at the group stage — securing a spot at the Spring Final.

NAVI march on to the Spring Final

"It is a slow start of the season, but we are happy with the result, we got to the Final," Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov said in a post-match interview, explaining that they will focus on preparation for the upcoming IEM Katowice after getting over the first hurdle in 2022.

NAVI collapse against NIP in BLAST Groups

Multikills from Patrick "es3tag" Hansen were the only thing stopping Natus Vincere from running over NIP on the T side of Nuke, the first map of the series. The Danes' efforts translated to three rounds on the defense, but that was way too little for NIP to mount a comeback on the offense, dropping the map 16-6.

It seemed like the series was going to be a complete whitewash as Natus Vincere took an 8-0 CT lead on Overpass, NIP's map pick. Just like on Nuke, Love "phzy" Smidebrant had a slow start, but he got himself and his team on the board with a 1v1 clutch in the ninth round. NIP salvaged the half with some quick hits, but struggled to establish themselves on CT initially.

Some heroics from Fredrik "REZ" Sterner and another clutch from phzy kept NIP's head above water and they slowly built momentum. Seven rounds in a row went their way and the score was tied at 14-14, but Natus Vincere's B hit stopped the streak, broke NIP's economy, and allowed the favorites to push it across the line before overtime.

Even in not the best form NaVi qualified as they were supposed to. Props to Blast for having a decent qualification format, where fluke and bo1 upsets factors are set to minimum.

Cry is free" is one constantly used sentence to users who are complaining about something. But what most don't know, is that this sentence is actually a huge lie. As far as we know, tears consist of water and 0,9 gram salt per litre. And both of these ingredients are not free. Here I listed the price for 10 litre tears for the countries of the G8. I used the following formula (price is in US Dollar): (Price 100 gram salt/100)x9 + (Price 1 cubic litre water/100) = Price for 10 Litre Tears France: 0,20 $ Italy: 0,17 $ Germany: 0,19 $ United Kingdom: 0,22 $ USA: 0,18 $ Canada: 0,18 $ Brazil: 0,18 $ Russia: 0,16 $ That means Russia has the cheapest cry. Thank you for reading.

There is no such thing as the undeserving, you either win or lose, and NaVi won when they needed to do it, so, if something, they deserved to qualify, because they won 2-0 and because they were superior in general. As simple as that. People is just salty because it's NaVi...

Because Nip won the no.1 then they got confident of becoming the no.1? they are still far away from the target, here not saying how strong Navi is, just look at the rematch between Astrails and Big, Astrails couldn't revenge, you just need to know that The Winner Takes It All

" he got himself and his team on the board with a 1v1 clutch in the ninth round" It was actually a 1v2 as he took down both Bumbles and simple.
2022-02-06 17:57

I think you are talking about the CT side clutch? The one in the ninth round was 2 NIP players on B, one rotating to A and dying to b1t, and then phzy killing b1t from behind

Did he win more than one? The one I remember was Na'Vi getting in the A site with seconds to spare and phzy was behind the corner towards long. He could have won the round just by killing Boombla while he was planting. But he chose to let him plant and then killing them with deagle before getting the defuse. A very low HP simple was behind the corner near the bathrooms.

Yep, format where you have no "incentive" to win for ages. You have to lose 468415 times to be eliminated. Not to mention this is perfect format for "betting throws"

only idiots really count the bo1 that are used for seedings like wins. Navi has 2-1 and go to the finals nip has 1-2 and don't go to the finals. The bo1 made it only easier. But when you can't take the advanatge you don't derve it anyway

Bad format. Gives losing teams too many chances. This is groups not the final. Keep it simple. 10 days is too many just for qualifying for a tournament. 2 groups of 6, 5 bo3s for each team, top 3 in each group go on to the final. Doesn't matter if a team qualifies before it's last match and it takes half the time.
2022-02-06 21:05
Extremly weird format that they have to beat NAVI again to qualify. It is always easier for the loosing team to win the next time, and harder for a team to win twice. NIP should have meet someone in the other bracket.
2022-02-06 23:26
joke format lmao lose first game, get another chance at lower bracket lose second game, get another chance at knockout stage lose third game, get another chance at last chance stage lose fourth game, still get another chance at Blast Showdown lol
