Movistar Riders to attend IEM Katowice as Complexity are ruled out
Positive COVID results have blocked the North American team from traveling to Poland for the $1,000,000 event.
Complexity will not be competing in the play-in stage of the first big LAN event of the year as multiple positive COVID test results see them unable to travel to the tournament. Taking their spot in Katowice will be Movistar Riders, who are next in line according to the ESL Pro Tour ranking.
So far, two players have been ruled out of the tournament due to positive COVID tests, Robin "ropz" Kool for FaZe and Aurimas "Bymas" Pipiras for MOUZ, but the two teams will nonetheless compete with standins. Earlier in February, TYLOO pulled out of the event due to COVID-19 regulations, with Sprout landing a spot based on their Pro Tour points.

Movistar Riders are currently ranked 23rd in the world and have just finished 5-6th at ESL Challenger February following a surprise loss to South Americans of 9z. Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández-Quejo Cano and co. have been making waves since returning to a fully-Spanish lineup, however, peaking at 14th place in the world in October of 2021 and participating in the Challengers Stage of the PGL Stockholm Major.
BIG will be the first team Movistar Riders will face in Poland, kicking off with a BO1 brawl on Tuesday at 13:30 , while their second opponent will be Astralis or MIBR.
On the other hand, missing out on Katowice will come as another big hit for Complexity who started their European campaign by playing Funspark ULTI 2021 Finals while Johnny "JT" Theodosiou was still in America. A last-place finish at BLAST Premier Spring Groups followed before the team ended their six-match losing streak with a win over ORDER and eventually a top-four finish at ESL Challenger February.
