IEM Katowice talent list announced

An extensive crew will bring the tenth anniversary of IEM Katowice to life, including two of HLTV.org's very own.

ESL have announced the 22 members of the talent that will guide the viewers through IEM Katowice 2022 on the official English broadcast. The tenth edition of the event will start with the Play-In stage on February 15, from which only eight of the sixteen teams will advance and earn the chance to claim the lion's share of $1,000,000 in the iconic Spodek Arena.

SPUNJ, Freya, and Maniac will be part of the broadcast

The hosting duties will be shared between Tres "⁠stunna⁠" Saranthus, Freya "⁠Freya⁠" Spiers, and Mike "⁠DarfMike⁠" Winnick while the interviewing will be done by Pala "⁠Mantrousse⁠" Gilroy Sen and Anastasija "Heccu" Tolmačeva.

Meanwhile, the analysts' desk will see the return of several household names such as Mathieu "⁠Maniac⁠" Quiquerez, Chad "⁠SPUNJ⁠" Burchill, Janko "⁠YNk⁠" Paunović, Alex "⁠Mauisnake⁠" Ellenberg and Sudhen "⁠Bleh⁠" Wahengbam. To complete the ample team of analysts will be Allan "⁠Allan⁠" Hender, Aleksandar "⁠kassad⁠" Trifunović and Zvonimir "Professeur" Burazin.

An equally extensive army of casters will be tasked with commentating the games, with Harry "JustHarry" Russell and Hugo Byron being joined by Conner "⁠Scrawny⁠" Girvan and Mohan "⁠launders⁠" Govindasamy. There is more, with Jack "Wolfy" Saunders, Alex "⁠hawka⁠" Hawkins, Adam "⁠Dinko⁠" Hawthorne joining Jason "⁠moses⁠" O'Toole and Matthew "⁠Sadokist⁠" Trivett in the arduous task of commentating the high volume of matches from the event.

he will not be casting with semmler anytime soon as Semmler has been swapped with moses on Blast events from. Decision came from Semmler himself as he wanted to change his casting style but I am not sure what exactly he's planning and in which event he will make his return..

I happened to stop by his stream few months back and he talked about how he finds CSGO less interesting these days. I did talk to him about it, seemed like it's both changes in the game how it's more steady and less random and how he just learned a lot about CS so less things can be random to him. For past 8 months or more he has been really poor as a caster, no offense, but he did sound bored and like he did not want to be there. He had no ideas, no interesting things, just talked random stuff and seemingly didn't even follow matches he was casting at times. Looked and sounded like a paycheck collector. Maybe he needs to chill a bit, maybe he's just past this and wants to move on to something else, whatever it is I hope he finds it fun.

I mean, he and Anders are casting now for 10 years (technically) in CS:GO alone so there can definitely be phases were you just bored of what ur doing same as in any Job out there. I can get behind that, but still would be sad to see him go out the scene considering how professional he is as a Person in general, just one of the few OG's of the CSGO Talent pool and people can cry about his past form as a caster (funny to say that about Show talent) all day but whenever Anders and him casting big games so many people on stream are tuning in just because of them and even more so when it is a Arena LAN. So compared to the usual Tier 2 Casters on Pinnacle Cup or Snow sweet whatever (no offense) but Semmler and Co. are different League of personality and skill that they bring to Events!

I still think Anders got it, if you work with someone who is bored and uninspiring as semmler was for a while it makes sense you end up underperforming. I think he got back up a bit after working with moses. Anders is working on other things too related to CS, he's creating a huge software project, I forgot the name, but allows you to watch demos in a bit more detailed way and manipulate engine to your desire. Even remove all textures, make it display only some things etc, hella useful for broadcasts and even learning about stuff. So he is still in an ecosystem so to speak. I like his casting, moses likes to focus on the negative part and Anders is a good counter as he is a guy who likes to enjoy life. Semmler, I am not sure if he's still got it. Apart from casting I don't think he has a foot in the ecosystem of esports or CS. So to me it's hard to trust his dedication unlike for Anders who hired people to make something that makes broadcasts so much better (think thing that sometimes shows instant replays with removed walls is his).
