Liquid, GODSENT among teams in action as NA RMR open qualifier starts

Around 130 teams are ready to battle for four spots at the Americas Regional Major Ranking tournament.

The final set of open qualifiers for the PGL Antwerp RMR events is set to begin in North America, where two separate brackets will award a total of seven spots at the Americas RMR tournament. The 16-team event already features the invited FURIA alongside eight teams who won spots from the two South America qualifiers.

GODSENT will fight through the NA bracket

Of the more than 130 teams registered for the first qualifier, all notable teams competing within the North American region are present, including, but not limited to, the following names: Liquid. Evil Geniuses, GODSENT, Complexity, Party Astronauts, paiN, Gaimin Gladiators, Orgless, Carpe Diem, Strife, Third Impact, TeamOne, and Bad News Bears.

As a result of the organizations changing the majority of their lineup over the tournament break, both Liquid and Evil Geniuses were unable to receive direct invites to the RMR event due to their placings at PGL Stockholm. Therefore, they must qualify to the event through the Open Qualifiers, and will see a berth to the RMR tournament a must.

Just like in the Asia-Pacific region, any team zoned for the overall Valve region is able to enter any sub-regional qualifier, which is why the likes of paiN, GODSENT, and TeamOne are able to play in the North American qualifier.

Another interesting note is that ATK are competing in the qualifier, despite only having 1 North American player (Ian "motm" Hardy). They are able to play in their region of residence due to the fact that South Africa (and other Sub-Saharan African countries) act as wildcards, and can enter any regional qualifier they want. So, the trio of motm, Gareth "MisteM" Ries, and Rhys "Fadey" Armstrong allow ATK to compete from NA.

Just like the Europe qualifiers, the North American ones will be played up until the top 16 on the first day, with the top 16 taking place the day after. To follow along yourself for the first day, you can view the bracket on FACEIT or a live post that will be updated during the qualifier on Dust2.us.

:/ Do You know how pro cs works? More than 3player change in the core It's basicly a new team from scratch for majors or tourny they qualified (only blast and esl they are partened they always keep the spot unless they sell it)

I hope you know the reason they had to go through the qualifiers is every team that makes 3 or more changes to its roster is considered as a new team and loses all their previous points so they have to start with 0. Same is the case with EG and complexity

leaving aside that aspect, the truth is liquid today doesn't look like a tier 1 team; from the few we've seen of them with the new roster, they went from top 10 with some issues to a team that has a hard time dealing with the top 20-30 teams and what's worst is that they kept their arguably best 2 players. I'm hoping to see some changes in their gameplay on this rmr, because it's really scary for them otherwise.

since liquids rebuild they beat eg and lost to faze g2 and navi. they won in OT against EG which doesnt look great but it is a win. they took faze to OT in both BO1 and lost 2-1 in a BO3 which looks decent. as well as double digits in both maps against navi but they got rolled by G2. not sure where the struggle against top 20-30 teams statment is coming from when theyve only lost to 3 of the top 4 teams

And all it took was for THREE TL members to drop 1.3+ in the match vs EG just to barely win in OT, if anything that shows much more from EG than anything, especially since tim didn't come back that long ago and was really bad vs them.

Why godsent is playing NA and not SA? All 5 players are brazilian Team Regional Assignment "A team’s region is determined by the citizenship of the majority of its players. In case of a tie, the team chooses between the two."

The region is AMERICA. Because of ping they divided SA RMR and NA RMR, but players that are from the continent AMERICA can choose between SA and NA.

NA is weak and poor of strong teams. I only see 3 or 4 teams (NA) in the next rmr for the major.
