GODSENT eliminated from PGL Major Antwerp Americas RMR contention by ATK
The Brazilian side were sent packing from the second open qualifier in the round of 16.
GODSENT will not attend the PGL Major Antwerp Americas RMR event after they failed to advance from either of the North American open qualifiers, bringing about an early end to the team's hopes of attending the Challengers Stage of back-to-back Majors.
Epitacio "TACO" de Melo's side made the decision to compete in the North American qualifiers instead of taking on domestic competition in South America, which had a total of eight spots on offer compared to the seven in North America.
Their first attempt to advance to the RMR was cut short by fellow Brazilian side TeamOne in the qualifying round, with TACO and company faltering in a three-map series despite initially holding a strong lead at the start of the series.
One more chance to make it to the RMR remained via the second open qualifier, which featured a weaker pool of teams overall after some of North America's heavy-hitters advanced through the first round. However, GODSENT once again were unable to find success, this time exiting the qualifier in the round of 16 after dropping a 9-6 lead to ATK on Overpass, garnering just a single round on the T side.
The quarter-final round of the second open qualifier bracket is currently underway, with the eight remaining teams vying for three spots in the Americas RMR. You can follow along with the results and ongoing matches on the event page here.
