The academy player returns to the main lineup at the expense of the French veteran.

MOUZ have announced a change to their lineup on Friday, promoting Jon "⁠JDC⁠" de Castro to the main roster in place of Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt following a group stage exit from ESL Pro League Season 15. The team will use JDC in the upcoming European RMR tournament, and if they qualify for it, the PGL Antwerp Major.

"After a disappointing EPL, all focus is on the RMR now. We decided that JDCs attitude, positivity, and communications will be vital for the team going forward," head coach Dennis "⁠sycrone⁠" Nielsen said about the change. "We know it's tough for Nathan, but we strongly believe in the positive impact of Jon's promotion."

JDC, who has been a part of the MOUZ NXT roster that won three WePlay Academy League titles in a row, already represented the main MOUZ roster. He stood in for Aurimas "⁠Bymas⁠" Pipiras during IEM Katowice and averaged a 0.98 rating across the play-in and group stage.

The 21-year-old German said that "this is by far the biggest step" of his career. "Very grateful for the entire NXT project and the people I met there. Thanks to everyone for all the support over the last year. Time to bring everything I have!"

For NBK-, the removal from the active lineup comes just two months after his signing in January, with few official matches played. The two-time Major winner competed in just two events with the team, IEM Katowice and ESL Pro League, but only the latter featured their full lineup.

In total, the 27-year-old played 25 maps for MOUZ, posting a 0.97 rating during the time. He also displayed a more aggressive style of play than what he was known for in the past, averaging 22.0% opening duels for the team and a 1.04 impact rating.

Yeah, in all honesty they didn't give him enough time. But also I think they realised they made a mistake by not signing more of the academy roster who, in their peak, were actually higher ranked than the main roster on hltv.

+1 stupidest move rn, the only player who should be leaving is dexter if this current style is his making, they were boring to watch, they were painful to watch, so many mistakes in retakes or late calls, so many 2v4 thrown, NBK was solid and his impact in games was insane if you watched them, not the shitty stats that tell you nothing, but his real impact in-game was huge. Frozen on the other hand was playing poorly, maybe cuz of his form, but I believe it was more about his position within the current mouz system, which is utter trash, playing slow cs like that and losing anyway, not even changing a pace from time to time is ridiculous. Looks like trash calling to me.

They won an S Tier tournament under him last year, aside from NaVi, Heroic, Gambit and NiP. mouz was the only other team to win an S Tier tournament last year. The hate on Mouz is insane around here, they're a top 15 team who can occasionally make deep runs, there aren't a lot of native english speaking IGLs who are free agents and better than dexter.

If NBK- didn't have good impact, both in terms of fragging and calling, this move would've been a solid, risk-free move. Sure, we can expect JDC to perform but the issues are currently with Dexter's T-sides, which may or may not improve with JDC being full-time over NBK-.

I wasn’t overly impressed with JDC when he subbed for mouz earlier this year. I think he’ll develop like bymas, average until he gets a sufficient amount of experience, assuming the leadership for mouz will be good enough. This move really makes no sense after 1 event, the tside woes have been a problem the whole time dexter has been on mouz. I’m not sure how they managed to correlate their problems with nbk.

Yeah, your guess is as good as mine. JDC was hit and miss for me but I could see the potential insane skill there in rounds he did show up, so putting all of your eggs into the one basket of JDC is fine but that requires JDC in turn to net profit off of those very eggs; whereas NBK- was a tried and tested veteran who was actually pretty good for MOUZ and more so than the rookie you're placing as a permanent over NBK-, who even helped Dexter with calling -- So it's a double-edged sword overall... If the move works out, MOUZ will have a lineup of seriously insane and potential young talent but in the case that it doesn't, your most experienced player was axed in place of a rookie you put all of your eggs into and now it's all over their faces... All we can do is wait and see... though, I agree with you, I'm not too sure how problems with NBK- arose either... I'm currently looking at both sides of the coin and there are more cons to this move than pros but that is just my take, friend. :D You made some good points too, Bymas is a little more experienced but the T-side woes aren't automatically going to fix themselves unless Dexter suddenly found the formula with the inclusion of JDC.

Yeah, it's all up in the air at the minute as to why the sudden change, it causes the questions than answers, it seems... :D JDC is insane, I imagine he will struggle at first but eventually he will show promise. ^^ I guess we will see if MOUZ made the right call and Dexter will find the key to success, as we know how impactful he can be in certain rounds.

I read the article, friend. The "why" was more aimed at the strange and way too sudden removal of the guy who has been helping Dexter with secondary calling and actually fragging pretty decently. Yes I get the pro of adding JDC but it's still a massive risk given how underwhelming Dexter has been for MOUZ, it doesn't answer the list of cons with this sudden move. I like JDC but he's still a rookie going into an RMR, so I hope all goes well for MOUZ.

Bymas just had a very good tournament at pro league that would be kinda stupid to replace him with Xertion who is on a similar level to JDC. And when JDC played for the mouz main roster he wasn’t anything amazing. Better than Bymas when he was shitting the bed, but that’s about it for now.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if NBK is trying really hard to 'teach these kids' (including Dexter) high-level CS and feels like they don't respect him and his ideas, which makes his mood bad. But that's just conjecture and I can't really know of course. Maybe MOUZ is exaggerating the whole thing and the coach just really wants his MOUZ-NXT boys in the main-roster and uses this as an excuse.

The first reason I give is just explaining why he might be more inclined to such a personality. I think he's just got a strong personality, and if you have a group of players who can't handle a bit of flack, you're going to have some issues in the team. I have Asperger's myself, so I know what it's like. It takes time to recognize how your brain works and adjust. Still, he is a very experienced player and has had the best career out of all French players in CS:GO. Seems like you just need to find the right balance, and that takes longer than a month. They should've given it at least until the Major and try to talk things out with him. And if it by then hasn't worked out, kick dexter and replace him with an IGL and maybe replace NBK. Though I think a change of IGL can make a big difference as well.

NBK has been shit for years and mouz realised that signing him was a mistake. He was also probably toxic about leadership just like in his previous teams. I bet he's kicking himself for shooting too high and not staying with DBL PONEY. And for everyone trashing dexter, he is the best IGL not in a t1 team. Look where his former teams are now without him, can't even win a map against serious opponents.

For ppl saying -dexter. Remember this: mouz have a major spot on EU RMR, if they remove dexter they would lost it. And since opens already finished, mouz would be not playing this RMR. Liquid and EG had to play open because they change more than 3 players. Yes, I agree -dexter would be better. And NBK was doing a good job. I like sycrone, I like JDC but I think sycrone has a bit of a bias towards his academy bois. JDC is absolutely talented however I think NBK was a really good pickup in a team that lacks experience. Would've been better to tackle the problem at the source and -dexter and either put NBK on IGL see how that goes or find a different IGL. I'm sure many good IGLs of tier 2 teams would accept that mouz offer any day of the week

I would have liked to see NBK igling to see if he might be more useful this way, NBK can at least to some extent IGL as he was always like a 2ndary caller in the team he was in but whether it's good or not I have no idea about. And NBK is way better at fragging and has better game sense than dexter so. Shame they didn't give this a try first IMO. But JDC is a solid player and torszi and JDC is like budget s1mple and electronic in how well they play together so I don't mind that but yea I still think dexter is a problem though. The way NBK unexpectedly had to leave without him being aware of the move reminds me of the OG case and previous french team benching in the sense, there has to be something about him that makes teams wanna kick him, perhaps he has the "know it all" kind of attitude or something that is not good for team spirit, feels like it's not down to his performance but rather something else.
