NIP confirm Brollan signing

A month after it was first reported to be in the works, NIP complete the blockbuster signing of the former fnatic star.

NIP have announced the signing of Ludvig "⁠Brollan⁠" Brolin on a transfer from fnatic, confirming a long-rumored change that was reported to be in the works by HLTV.org in late February after the Swedish organization lined up a hefty bid in the area of €600,000 for the 19-year-old star.

The newest addition joins NIP amidst their campaign in ESL Pro League Season 15, in which the Swedes have advanced to the playoffs from first place in Group A. Brollan is however not expected to be able to join the team in the bracket stage due to the transfer regulations in place for the tournament (teams aren't allowed to change the roster they had submitted outside of emergency situations).

NIP bolster their firepower with a two-time top 20 player

Brollan will then take his place in the active roster in time for NIP's preparations for the upcoming Major cycle, which will begin with the Regional Major Ranking tournaments in Bucharest, Romania, next month. The Swedish-majority side have been placed in the B group on the European side of things, taking place on April 21-24 and offering eight Major spots in the Swiss stage.

The organization hasn't revealed what roster will be used in the Major cycle, but it is expected that one of Nicolas "⁠Plopski⁠" Gonzalez Zamora or Love "⁠phzy⁠" Smidebrant will take a step back.

"We’ve been looking at Brollan for years now — every serious team has," NIP COO Jonas Gundersen said in a statement. "In my mind it hasn’t been a question of whether he would join, but when, and I think he’s chosen a fantastic time."

The 19-year-old reunites with Hampus "⁠hampus⁠" Poser and Plopski under the new banner after he spent nearly a year playing alongside the former in GODSENT and Red Reserve and briefly with the latter early on in his career in late 2017.

He comes as the third high-profile signing for NIP in a span of the last 12 months, following Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz's and Patrick "⁠es3tag⁠" Hansen's additions in April and November, respectively. In that time, the team took on various forms and went through several other changes as it utilized members of the Young Ninjas academy team. First it was Erik "⁠ztr⁠" Gustafsson who got the call-up, then Linus "⁠LNZ⁠" Holtäng, and in the past three months phzy has been standing in after device took medical leave due to mental health issues.

With the future roster yet to be cleared up, NIP currently have:

I've seen plenty of people say they would prefer es3tag to get kicked, instead of Plopski. Here's a few reasons why that's a stupid opinion: 1. NiP have desperately needed a solid support player since dev1ce joined. Before es3tag joined, NiP put this responsibility on academy IGL's and Plopski. It worked horribly. Plopski can't play in supportive roles (as we saw in 2021), and academy IGL's with zero T1 experience are obviously gonna falter. 2. If es3tag were to get kicked, NiP would once again have to put support responsibilities onto Plopski (and/or Brollan), and they would be back in the same mess they had in 2021. 3. People still think es3tag is a liability in comms, however from what we've heard from hampus in ESL Pro League, it seems es3tag has improved his swedish comms massively, to the point where it isn't an issue at all. He's also able to help hampus with calling in various situations (from lurk positions, or coordinating a site), unlike Plopski, or random academy players. (I know ztr supposedly helped calling on Nuke and Overpass for a brief period, which is bizarre) 4. The roles would fit perfectly if Brollan replaced Plopski, whereas if Brollan replaces any other player, NiP have a very tough puzzle to piece together. That would be a shame, since the team finally looks balanced. 5. NiP just spent a whole bunch of money buying es3tag. Imo, it seems like most of the es3tag hate comes from the fact he's danish, and people would rather have a full swedish lineup. I get that, but as long as the comms stay swedish, and there's a majority of swedes on the lineup, I'm relatively content. If they ever go majority danish, or full international, that would be complete blasphemy and I'd resign as a NiP supporter.

+1 they spent a lot of money on Dev1ce, no way they're getting rid of him yet, es3tag is probably in the same boat. REZ and Hampus are playing well, which leaves Plopski on the chopping block.

Wouldn't make sense since he is very good friends with brollan. es3tag also still has communication problems so wouldn't make sense from that point of view either.
