Sangal player Soulfly sidelined by visa issues ahead of RMR

Coach Tugay "TuGuX" Keskin will play instead of the Turkish youngster in at least the first match of the tournament.

Sangal will play the opening stages of the second European Regional Major Ranking tournament without Caner "soulfly" Kesici due to the 17-year-old encountering issues with the visa application process, the organization has announced on the day before the beginning of the event.

The team has stressed that there is still a possibility for the Turkish player to join the rest of the roster during their campaign in Bucharest, where they will play for Major qualification over the course of the next four days, on April 21-24.

TuGuX will sub in for Soulfly in the opening match and possibly more

TuGuX will stand in for the squad in the meantime after the coach was submitted as Sangal's official substitute. If soulfly is able to get his visa in time to travel to Romania, he can be swapped back into the roster as per the official Major rulebook.

As the third-lowest-ranked team in attendance and now without one of their main players, Sangal are facing an uphill battle on their quest to qualify for PGL Major Antwerp.

The team around Robin "ScrunK" Röpke are set on a collision course with one of the heavy favorites, Players, in the first round of the Swiss stage in a match that will take place on Thursday at 13:30 .

Their roster in the opening match will be the following:

Germany Robin "ScrunK" Röpke
Austria Efekan "S3NSEY" Topaloglu
Hungary Kornél "kory" Szedlár
Germany Can "kyuubii" Ali
Germany Tugay "TuGuX" Keskin

What kind of convenience? It’s up to the players/org to apply for a visa, and up to Romania to grant it. Not sure what kind of help Turkey could provide. Can’t expect them to send diplomats to try to fast-track a visa application from a random citizen.

Turkish officials think like you. Why can obtaining a visa be so difficult? The person applying for the visa does not have a criminal record, he must have explained to the authorities why he wanted to get a visa and the importance of the situation. By a random citizen you mean "tourist". However, I do not think that the situation is a touristic trip. Our Vice President attended an e-sports event in Ankara where the Eternal fire team also took part and listened to the problems of e-sports players and mentioned that steps will be taken to solve the problems experienced by e-sports players. A close example is the opening of hltv in our country after the situation was reported to the vice president in this event after hltv was banned in Turkey. Even if we tried to convey soulfly's situation by tagging the vice president on Twitter, it seems that it didn't work. Anyway.

No, by random citizen I mean he is not going there on government business, nor is he famous or influential. I imagine the situation would be the same for a businessman on a business trip or an unknown athlete in a niche sport. It’s on Romanian authorities to grant the visa. Turkey or any other foreign government have very limited ability to influence that process. Maybe it could be done by throwing a lot of diplomatic clout around, but what do you expect, for Erdogan to personally phone the Romanian government and request a visa for a person he’s never heard of?

I don't think Erdogan will care. I would expect the institutions of the states dealing with this business to communicate more closely with each other. Visa facilitation should be provided in serious subjects such as sports, science, academics and so on. These facilities are available in my country. however, there may not be a regulation regarding e-sports. I would expect the relevant institution of Romania to provide visa convenience for an organization organized in its country. maybe pgl officials could have shown some effort on the subject. (why are you awake at this hour) XD

I had a business meeting in Bucharest, Romania 1 month ago. It was a bid urgent meeting and set up suddenly, only 20 days before I could apply. I apply for the business visa through Romanian Consulate located at Istanbul and they told me to come collect my passport after 10 days. 10 days later, visa was granted. If I can get a visa in 10 days, how e-sports professionals funded by its organisation having trouble? I don't understand at all.

No man, i dont think thats the reason. İ think the reason is EF roster (individually) have lan experience before thats why they are granted easily.

An event was held with a vice-president in Turkey. Eternal Fire was also invited, so he had the opportunity to speak with the Vice President. Eternal fire lifted the ban on HLTV in Turkey by talking to the vice president. yes it is not fair but everything is very difficult for our country anyway.

It's really very sad, you are planning to go to an international lan tournament for the first time on your own and your dreams are falling apart because you are not helped with visa procedures. I would not want to be in SOULFLY's place, I wish you were born in a country where e-sports is important, my friend ): Moreover, this situation has been going on for a week and no one helped this child, but if you ask these authorities, they say we support our youth, liars.
