PGL Major Antwerp 2022 Challengers StageG2 take down Liquid, forZe hold out against Renegades
North America's woes at the Major continued as Liquid made it 0-2 for the continent.
G2 and FORZE kicked off their adventure at the PGL Major Antwerp with victories over Liquid and Renegades respectively to secure a 1-0 record in the Challengers stage. The European mix handed Liquid North America's second defeat in the Swiss stage after a dominant game on Inferno while Andrey "Jerry" Mekhryakov's men prevented a comeback from the Oceanic squad on Nuke.
Starting on the CT side of Inferno, Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen's squad easily gained the upper hand against Liquid after converting the first pistol and going on an unbeaten nine-round streak. Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov kicked off his first-ever Major by bullying The North Americans on the defense, finishing the first half at the top of the scoreboard with a 19-3 K-D as the Europeans went into halftime 13-2 ahead.
Nick "nitr0" Cannella and company managed to put up a fight in the early stages of the second half, but a comeback was out of the cards as the duo of Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač continued to shine. G2 closed the game 16-6 and moved into the 1-0 pool.

Meanwhile, the B stream hosted another one-sided half as FORZE welcomed Renegades to Europe with a brutal 10-round winning streak on the CT side of Mirage. Aleksandr "shalfey" Marenov and Aleksandr "KENSI" Gurkin were both on point today, powering their squad to a fantastic 14-1 half.
A scrappy start to the second half saw both teams go back and forth, with the Oceanic squad able to string together a few successive rounds before collapsing in a 4v2 retake on B, losing 16-9.
