Astralis, MIBR, EG invited to Pinnacle Cup Championship

Three more teams are set to travel to Sweden in the Summer.

Astralis, MIBR, and Evil Geniuses have received invites to the Pinnacle Cup Championship, the organizers revealed on Tuesday. So far, fnatic, Heroic, and Imperial have already been invited to the $250,000 event taking place in Lund, Sweden, on June 8-11.

The invited trio join the team list after being unable to qualify for the BLAST Premier Spring Final, which starts shortly after the Lund event, during their campaign in the regional Showdown tournaments.

Both Astralis and MIBR are currently competing at the PGL Antwerp Major, both having qualified for the event as Challengers. Evil Geniuses however, were unable to qualify for the Major, having failed in the last stage dropping a series to 9z. For the American team, the Pinnacle Cup Championship will be the only event in which they are set to compete until season 16 of ESL Pro League in August.

Pinnacle Cup IV, the final cup event before the championship, is currently ongoing with the Swiss group stage having completed last week. The playoff stage, set to feature the likes of Spirit, K23, and Apeks will begin later in the month, with four direct invites to be announced before then.
