Astralis deny MIBR comeback, Outsiders take down Complexity

Astralis and Outsiders got their second wins of the tournament, meaning they require just one more to qualify for the next stage.

With the second day of action now well underway, we are getting a clearer picture of which teams are in form and which ones are struggling to perform.

The 1-1 pool of matches has now concluded, with Outsiders and Astralis joining the 2-1 pool after their respective wins, while Complexity and MIBR are now one loss away from elimination. For the rest of the day we will be treated to the qualification and elimination games, which will be played in a BO3 format and are starting momentarily.

Jame powered his team to another win

Astralis got themselves their second win of the tournament against MIBR, with the two teams battling on Overpass. MIBR won the pistol, but the Danes responded with a successful force-buy, which set them up for a dominating CT side that they were able to win 12-3. They limited their opponents to just four bomb plants, while Benjamin "blameF" Bremer had another stellar CT performance, accumulating a 2.14 rating on the defensive side.

MIBR won their second pistol round of the game on their defense, this time being able to convert it to a good start to the half. The Brazilians won seven rounds in a row and got the game to a 12-10 scoreline, before it was none other than blameF who stopped their streak with a 1v3 clutch. MIBR bounced back however, getting up to 13 rounds before Astralis were able to finally close out the game.

Meanwhile on the B stream Complexity got us underway on Overpass with a 4-1 start. Outsiders quickly responded and strung together four rounds, before a Ricky "floppy" Kemery's 1v3 clutch broke their streak. The scrappy nature of the game continued towards the end of the half, as it finished 8-7 in the favour of the CIS squad.

The second half started off with a Dzhami "Jame" Ali clutch in the pistol round, giving Outsiders a lead they kept throughout the half, helped by a bunch of misplays on the Complexity side, with Outsiders eventually coming out as winners with a 16-9 scoreline.

5 deaths in 25 rounds. Call him a baiter or wtv, but being able to save that much is still impressive af.

WOOD7, it feels like he’s massively underperforming every game. Don’t know much about mibr, but is he their igl or why do they keep him? And isn’t he the awper as well?

It's a good awper but it's performing poorly, and I can't imagine why... yes it is IGL... but as the awp is a weapon that shoots once and takes a relative time to reload, that is, you can't miss the shot otherwise it complicates, I don't agree with the IGL being an awper...

There are many examples of IGL-awp working out. Fallen might be the best example. Nitro as well, during the liquid era. Maybe nitro is not a 100% awper, but it worked out pretty well. Havent seen mibrs matches, so I dont know how woody plays.

maybe but in the case of wood7 these two functions didn't work out very well for him, in this Major he's performing below average... I prefer an AWPer playing free like TRY for example...

No, wood7... but as the below-normal performance of wood7 would be better to give the awp to chelo...

Zevy (excellent awper from Sharks, better than wood7... ), gafolo (excellent awper from Isurus...), remix (good awper from ex-havan liberty...), and there are others there if we look more closely... but of all these mentioned, the best without a doubt is zevy...
2022-05-10 16:23
As far as I know he's both AWPer and IGL

If that's the case, then he really should hand the awp over to someone else. This is a meta where a star-awper is one of the most important things to reach the top. They can't afford having such a bad player with the awp.

mibr deserved to win this game...
